Question about tint
Question about tint
Hey y'all..... Im looking for your valuable feedback on this!!!
Right now i have 35% platinum tint all round except the windshield ofcourse!
In Mass its legal as long as the front two windows arent any darker than 35%. So I was thinking of getting the back two windows and the rear windshield tint replaced with the darkest platinum tint. What do you guys think of this? Anyone have pix?
My other option is remove the platinum tint completely and get the setup i want in black... I have a Pearlwhite Max and i love the Platinum tint... especially when its raining the tint turns 90% opaque!!!
Would the darker windows in the back make it look bad???
oh.... btw.. im thinking of putting a small decal in the back....hahaha
It will say "EastSideMaxima @ maxima.org"
Is that going to be lame?

Personally, I'm not feeling the side windows being diff tints - it's a max, not a limo... But then, it's also YOUR max, not mine, so who cares what I think?
I've had tint taken off the rear window before, and the shop didn't have much trouble. Defroster still works properly. If you're doing it yourself, you may want to reconsider that window. I'm also not one who is into the diff shades of tint on one car. The even look is nicer IMO.
Must suck having strict laws on tint. I'm looking around for a shop that has 10% so i can go 10 all around, but if I don't find it soon I'll be getting 5%. Had 5% on top of 25% all around on my civic which was like having black paint on my windows
I have a 00 Black Max w/ 20% all around, and I've never been harassed by cops..they don't even mention it and I've been pulled over more times then I'd like, for sure. Just tint eveything darker unless the cops around there are douche bags.

Even though it may be "legal" to do darker than 35 in the rear windows, its really not worth the hassle you're gonna get from the police. I would just keep it 35 all around, and not put the sticker on the windows either.
and also to add to NYAutostyles point, you could severely mess up your rear defroster talking tint off. Even if you take it to a pro, there's still a chance they could mess up your defroster too.
Just out of curiosity, where did you take your car to get tinted?

I didn't tint my sunroof b/c if I'm driving around town, I just leave the shade open to let light in to avoid cop hassles. On the hwy, I just keep it closed, I'm not much of a sunroof person though, the sun is bothersome :P
Tinting the windows and not tinting the rear window would look weird. Get 35% all the way around and it'll look fine. As far as the rear window being tinted, it doesn't ruin the rear defroster at all. It only gets ruined if you attempt to remove the tint by peeling it off without melting the glue first. There is a process of removing tint properly without hardly leaving any glue behind. I don't want to go in great detail about the process, but I know how it's done. Check my homepage, I have 20% bronze all the way around on Sunlit Sand. I recieved alot of compliments on this color because it matches the car beautifully.

You should paint the mud flaps to match ur body paint!!! That would really change the looks on ur car from the side and back!

Why didnt i think of getting the darkest tint when i was getting it the first time!!!
I've got 20% all the way around....
Pros: looks great inside and out especially on my black car, keeps the car coooooler. girls love it
cons: i got a 150 doller fine the day after christmas (this is 2 years after i had it on and have never been questioned), inspection is not fun, and driving at night on occasion requires the windows to be rolled down while sharp turning or parking.
i think im gonna go lighter on mine when i retint it.... thats just my thought

As far as the mudflaps, I have the body colored rears from the 2k2-2k3's, but still have the fronts black. I'm getting the front mudflaps painted body colored soon, since the 2k2-2k3's leave a slight gap on the 2k-2k1's because of the sideskirts. When I get a better camera, I'll update my homepage the way it should be.
