Man, i bought a FSTB from nite-stalker and my hood won't close? How do I fix this. I have read this before but googled did not give me anything relevant. Please help!

He said it is a Bomz FSTB. Man it got it to finally fit and then whamo, hood won't close.

Try adjusting it - sounds like you have it up too high. I have the BOMZ too, and it adjusts by taking it off, then screwing in the end pieces a couple of turns (each). That should lower it enough to clear the hood - it's a very close adjustment between clearing the hood and clearing the engine (mine barely hits when you hit the gas in reverse - otherwise clear all the time).

Peace

i got it to fit. I just messed with it a bunch. How tightshoudl everything be? I hand tightened it and then gave it a quarter turn with a wrench. WHat about the nuts on the bar. I tightened those up too but no too tight.

First, there's supposed to be a little tension on the bar (i.e. it's pushing against the strut towers, just a little).

I tightened the nuts (on the bar) a lot, but you don't have to haul on them. Don't really know what the torque spec is.

the torque specs are 36-40 ft. lbs. I highly suggest using a torque wrench for tightening or you'll end up stripping the strut threads when its under load.

did you have any real noticeable differences after you installed the FSTB? I have one on the way and wasn't really sure how much it would help.

if you dont have a torque wrench take it to a mechanic. they'll charge you $20-$30 but you'll know it's on right.

the car feels a little, and i emphasize LITTLE stiffer during cornering (60mph, long sweep corner). I've read here that installing RSBs is where you'll notice the most in handling.

$30 for a mechanic to torque the bolts?! for that amount, i'd run to autozone and buy me one.

Thanks. How hard would it be to install a RSB and how much would it be?

I had a buddy help me install the RSB for about an hour or so, of course, this included taking tequila shots every three turns of the wrench or so.

The Progress RSB i bought off custommaxima.com was $135. I don't know what the current price is. Addco also makes RSB but i don't know the price or the applications.

RSB... time for you to do some homework...

Also, use this to search for old discussions on the rear sway bar and strut bar....

Whoever it was probably won't speak up for fear of being beaten to death with a torque wrench.
