I searched entire site!(keyless entry problem)

I know this topic has been beaten to death.. but i've run into a problem.

I just ordered a new key fob for my 2000se. I knew how to program cuz i've done it before...

1. lock all doors
2. Turn ignition to ACC then remove key
3. insert key to ignition 6 times within 10 seconds (signals will flash)
4. Press unlock on new keyfob(Hazards should flash)

I can get to step 3, but whenever i press the unlock button to finalize the program nothing happens... i've tried pressing all of the buttons, and none finalize the reprogram. I go to the store, get a new batteries for the remote(in case it was battery related).. and it still doesn't program correctly.

biggest mystery: So i figured if I bought a faulty remote, i could reprogram my old beat up one just to test as a control.. Well it won't even let me program my old remote now! I went to the dealer and the girl at the service desk said she could try it, but she couldn't either. Her advice was for me to come back tomorrow and have a technician look at it for $35.... YEAH RIGHT.. Has anyone had any problems like this?

Is there something i could be doing wrong?

Same directions?..Check your steps 2 and 3.

Reprogram Procedure

To reprogram (enter new ID) key fob (keyless remote controller) follow the steps.

1. Close all doors and lock all doors

2. Insert and remove the key from the ignition key cylinder more than six times within 10 seconds. (not turn to ACC and remove key)
(The hazard warning lamp will then flash.)
NOTE:
Key should be withdrawn from ignition key cylinder completely each time.

NOTE:
Do not rush the insertion/removal key cycling process. The side
marker/tail/license lamps and interior illumination will flash twice when this step is
accurately completed.

3. Insert key on ignition key cylinder and turn ignition key switch to "AAC" position. (you don't remove the key)
At this time, the new ID code is entered and original (previous) ID codes are erase.

4. Press any button on the new remote controller once. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash)

NOTE:
Do not press the button more than one time in the above step. If the button
is pressed more than one time, the programming procedure will not be successful.
The side marker/tail/license lamps and interior illumination will flash twice when this
step is accurately completed and programming is successful.

If there is only one remote controller skip step 5.

5. Additional ID code entry
Release the door lock, then lock again with door lock/unlock switch
(In power window main switch)

6. Remove key from ignition

7. Unlock driver side door (manually, don't use electronic lock to unlock), open driver side door and then close the door. (END)

Make sure that you have the correct FCC ID on the back of the Fob. I had one that didn't work with my max. It looked the same, but it didn't work because of the FCC ID.

The FCC's aren't the same on the back of each.... Although the Nissan Dealership told me that 02/03 remotes are compatible with 00/01 cars and vice versa.... Even though both FCC's aren't the same, this doesn't explain why i can't even program my old key fob... nothing happens with the old one or new... I'm soo confused

I too am having a similar problem. My keyless stopped working so I tried to reprogram. The lights flash after the key insertion cycling, but then nothing when the button is pressed on the remote. I am using my original remotes, both of which used to work, and one has a new battery. BTW, I also replaced the keyless entry relay in the trunk and that didn't change anything.
