Well I have my CAI installed, and I love the sound and added power (yes I can tell a difference), but of course I have a problem.

After installing the unit, I put everything back together and started the engine. No promblems. Reved it up a couple of times with the engine running approx 1 min. Turned off the engine. After about 10 min. I started the engine again and reved it up a few times with the engine running approx 1 min. Then once again, shut the engine off. After about 5 min. I started the engine and was beginning to back out of the garage (i noticed that shifting into gear was a firmer action...i mean from park to reverse had a noticable kick) I backed out of the garage and now the service engine soon light is on. I am hoping that I just need to reset the ecu. I drove the car around and shut it off a few times but the light never went off. Also, the OD OFF light upon startup is flashing. Before it would just light up with startup and after about 15-30 sec it would go off. Now it lights up and then starts flashing. I believe it flashes six times then shuts off. The overdrive button and feature is still working, but at high RPM's hitting the OD button causes a very hard shift and kick into the lower gear. I also notice that under light acceleration, that the shifts are alot firmer and kick hard into gear. It feels great at 3/4 throttle, but at 1/4 throttle its a little unnerving.

Any suggestions on what to do???

I already have the battery disconnected to reset the ecu and I will reconnect it tomorrow morning before going to work.

Anything else I should look for and any pieces of advice???

Thanks

Did you check all the connections? Did you reconnect the MAF?

Yeah, I checked the MAF and temp sensor and both are in good with solid connections. Do you need to do anthing special to the piping where it connects to the MAF sensor housing? I mean do you need to seal that better or it OK just to but the pieces together and tighten with bolts?

Also there is a tube that wasn't attached before that is rounded at the top. Is there any reason to attach that now? It seems to be like a blow off tube or something. I made sure that the 3 hoses were attached to the smaller tubing attached to the throttle body. Everything looks like it is connected correctly and it seems to me like it should be working properly. Don't know what else to do...

FIXED!!!

I went back out this morning and got back to work. I double checked all the connections again and made sure all the hoses were attached and secure. I then went over all electrical connectors were attached. I made sure everything was grounded and getting power. I then noticed a small grey connector at the top of the strut tower attached to a metal bracket...it was unhooked. I reconnected the wires and double checked everything else again. I then reconnected the power wire to the battery. The moment of truth ... I started the engine and the OD OFF light came on and flashed about 15 times, but no SERVICE ENGINE SOON. I drove the car around to check it out, and the shifts are back in order feeling a little slushy again, but better that knocking the pi$$ out of you when it shifts! I got back to the house and turned the engine off, feeling pretty good. I started the engine one more time and this time the OD OFF light just came on and then went right off. WOOOO HOOO!

Finally.

Thanks KEV for making me think 3 times about my work and connections made, or not made in my case.

Great to hear you solved your problem. When I have a problem, I check, check, re-check, check again, then re-check another time just to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Congrats!!

You are lucky, after installing my CAI, the check engine light came on and is still on and has been on for the last 6 months. Oh well I have just learned to live with it. It probably would have come on with the mods to the TPS that had to be made for the ZEX anyway.
