I can't find my owner's manual, therefore the reason for this post.

Far left side of my dash there is a red light that comes on when I touch my brake pedal before the brakes engage. What is it? and why is it coming on?

i could be wrong but do our cars tell us if we have lights out? if so my guess would be that it is telling you that one of your brake lights is out...

 

Sorry for not mentioning it....but both brake lights are working.

did you check the third brake light??

from the owners manual

Stop/tail warning light
If the light comes on with the engine running
when the light switch is on or the brake pedal
is depressed, one or more stop/tail light bulbs
are burned out. Replace the stop/tail light bulb.

 

Definately check all the brake lights.

 

hmmm...I'll give it another look tonight. But when I checked it earlier, left/right & center were all working.
