yet another MAF question
yet another MAF question
ok i know my maf is blown and i gotta replace it, if i bring it to the dealership how much sh*t do they really give you about it cause i have an injen cai. i was looking over the stickies to see if i could order the part online but i read alot about the dealer's giving you guys trouble about bringing in a modded intake. is this really gonna be a problem or do i just simply tell them to screw and replace the maf so i can be on my way? thanks
since you are an 00, i am assuming you are out of warranty and have no extended warranty? if that is the case, then purchase the maf yourself and install it. that way you can keep the injen on and save money on the part & labor. they run around 80-100 bucks and take a matter of minutes to swap out.
if you are under an extended warranty, then swap the stock air box and take it in to the dealer.

it really depends on the dealer i blew mine on the way home from the track and was about an hour away from home and my stock intake so i had to have it towed right to the dealer knowing they would give me a hard time for the intake but they told me to bring them the stock one and they would swap them out and warranty the maf and another dealer i went to i had already changed the in take back to stock and they were asking me questions about me changeing the intake from stock of course i denied everything
You can get it at www.jerryromenissan.com. When ordering use the promotional code "maxima" to get a 12% discount. It should be around $95 shipped.

i quoted the other guy and asked him to explain. i have been here long enough to know the answer to that question.
either learn to read or keep you comments to yourself.
actually this is my original thread and its over a month old. and you mustve dug through the back pages for it so i can tell you to do what i want. also if you want an explanation its because our computers are supposed to be told when we get a new part. the majority of us dont feel the need to pay the dealer to do it so we just unhook our battery for a good hour or 2 and that resets everything and then our cars relearn everything after a few driving cycles. but the "correct" way is to install the part and have the dealer use the consult II to tell our cars we got a new part and reset everything that way.
there is a difference between reseting the ecu and flashing the ecu with the updated maf info. unplugging the battery just lets the ecu readjust to anything that may have changed. with the updated maf, nissan recommended that a flash be done through the consult 2. i with a handful of other members replaced their own mafs and did not have the flash done and have not had an issue.
