2k's only~blown manifold w/ intake

Im thinking about putting an intake into my car and have read all about our POS manifolds....wondering how many of u 2k guys and gals have blown or have not blown your manifolds with aftermarket cone type intakes. i dont want to spend double the money if my man blows....is this just a hit or miss type problem or are the manifolds better for certain years?

I think you mean MAFS, mass air flow sensor ... not manifold ... Intakes increase the chance I would stay with gab or stock please dont ask me what a gab is because it's in the stickies. Intakes add minimal performance anyway. They just look good.

im hoping you are confusing manifold for mass air sensor. there is no relation between a cone intake and blowing up a manifold. you may be refering to the power rod breaking in the manifold but that done over time from repeated above 5200 rpms trips. the end on the rod eventually wears down no matter what intake system you have. besides the issues with the power rod which can be easily addressed, our manifolds are rather well designed IMO.

Isn't this the 2nd time this week someone is asking about "blowing" their manifold with an aftermarket intake?

Anyways, NmexMax and Sloppy are right... you're probably thinking MAF... the thing is, people have blown their MAFs regardless of what type of intake, be it stock, aftermarket, homemade, etc... it seems like a random thing that's due to our having MAFs of poor quality, so don't let that stop ya from getting an intake if that's what ya really want. Just watch out for those oily K&Ns.

Btw, I've had a Berk intake with K&N filter for about 8K miles now with no issues.... yet. I also had a K&N drop-in for 33K miles before that with no MAF problems. Guess I'm just one of the lucky ones.
