Most here will say Optima because it looks pretty, is trendy, and works well also!

that said, I'd just go with Die Hard....I have had many of them, never had a problem, and if I did I know that Sears stands behind their products (not to say that Optima doesn't...) and there are Sears all over the place that could/would replace it.

it all depends on whether u have a system in your car and like to pump it with the engine off.

i had a die hard gold die on me after 3 hours of having my headlights on and system on with the engine off.

i switched to optima yellow, never had a problem so far, the battery never seems to die.

My optima will start up 3 dead Maximas without a problem, I tested it and it came out with 1081 cold cranking amps when tested with my battery tester. It fires up the car like no other battery ever did :P

I heard that the company that makes Optima also makes the Kirkland batteries for Costco. I bought one of the Kirkland ones and i love it. no problems so far, and I got a system. only ran me like 80 bux

If you are not running heavy system, just get a die hard battery.

I got a red top and I would say it was worth the $109. Car starts right when the key is turned over, and I have a decent size amp in the trunk.

don't buy a 'dead hard'. spend the money. OPTIMA is a better designed battery and you can feel the difference.

i got the blue top (marine starting) battery for like 119... 800CCA/1000MCA... every time i turn the key there isn't a problem... has to be one of the best batteries i've ever purchased. My brother got a red top and he is loving it as well... gobs of starting power and maintenance free reliability.

They are both made by Johnson Controls. They even make the Die Hards.

today's batteries are made to last at least 3 yrs. Why spend 3 times more on some "better engineered" battery with a colorful lid, when you can go to any Pep Boys or Parts USA, and pickup a $60 battery that will last you for as long as you own your car?

If you have a decent sized amp then those "better engineered" batteries will last longer. Die hard batteries and such will not last the life of the car either. My stock battery lasted only 4 years.

that is the only difference i have felt. the bass hits harder and diming is minimal. still i am not sure if it is worth 170 bucks. some say i could have gotton a farad cap and it would have helped with the dimming..

Die Hard is just that... and is a quality Sears battery with a great warranty.
