valence grill on AE

How does the street scenes lower valence grill fit on the AE bumper? Anyone have an AE with the lower grill? I was looking at the bumper and noticed little vertical notches going across the lower grill. Do those need to be cut out? Thanks...

i am going to try to answer this question to the best of my knowlege. however, since i don't onwn an AE max they may not be 100% correct. as far as i know the lower street scenes grille comes with clips which attach it to the factory bumper. nothing needs to be cut out. i know a few people that have it on their maxima but not sure if theirs is an AE one. you can ask zippin and/or nyghetto. those are the two i can think of off the top of my head.

zippin, by the looks of your pics, my AE lower grill is the same as yours. You have the SS grill right? Did you have the vertical notches? If you did, does the grill just install in front of them? Also, how's the rust factor?

it does have the vertical notches. so it goes in front, and i used ties. i have had it for a few months and it does not show any signs of rust. if it does, i am going to get it powder coated.

If you take a look at the SS lower valence grille you will see that the grille is recessed in spots where the vertical notches will fit in. You DO NOT need to remove the notches, moreover, they are used in conjunction with the ss recess points so that you can properly line the grille up. Like Zippin, I used zip-ties to attach the grille. If you purchased the aluminum finish, SS claims that you will nenver have anything to worry about with it, that has yet to be seen. Anywho, I used black zip ties, put it in place, and came out like so:

Good luck with the install!!!!

Those little black clips they send with the grill are worthless. I could not get them to work...

you have to put the black clips inside facing outwards and they are a pain in the a$$

the AE's have the same bumper as the rest of 00-01 maximas. Its only the aero effects of the AE kit that attach to the stock bumper that make it look different

Yeah, I would love to see how anyone could have made them work. Hell, I even cut my main grille out and STILL could not use those clips.
