Well..after 6 months of lurking I finally decided to sign up and say hello.

I bought a 2001 black SE with an auto trans on 11/30/00 and found this site that weekend. Great topics, discussions, and advice.

My 01 was delivered without the fuel filler tube cover in the rear drivers side wheel well. I think this is common on 01 maximas. (Nissan cost cutting??) I went to the dealer and complained about the dirt around my fuel filler and the missing part and they ordered and installed it no questions asked. This was discussed in an earlier thread and I thought I'd send my situation.

QUESTION:
Here's my dilemma...I drive 50 miles round trip to work a day, combination highway/city streets. I was debating between changing my oil/filter every 3k with conventional oil or every 5k with synthetic. Any suggestions???

Yeah, well, somebody's gotta do it. I figured the only way to be like you is to emulate you!

Well manual says 3750 on regular dino. 3k probably isn't necessary but won't hurt. Synthetic should be able to go 7k no prob but I'm still running normal dino oil.

Welcome! Get a Blackstone Lab oil kit and see how long you can go before changing your synthetic oil. Check out bill99gxe's info on oil in the sticky thread up top (FAQ).

I believe synthetic at 3750 is the way to go - unless any 21st century human meets the Nissan criteria for 7500 mile oil changes.
