Hit 100k Today

So I finally surpassed 100,000 miles today It is almost sad to see but I know that my max will be on the road for a long time to come. Is there anything I should look out for at this mileage and any required maintenance I should do to keep it in top shape? Any 5th geners with over 100k feel free to chime in on this one.

2k miles away from the 100k mark! Need to do a tranny flush/refill, sparkplugs, possible coil packs. For 98k miles she still runs like a champ!

No you don't need to do a flush, but the transaxle fluid should be replaced periodically by draining and filling. I don't see any recommended interval in the Nissan manual, but Haynes recommends every 30,000 miles.

I just had mine done a couple of months ago for the first time at about 57,500 miles in my 95SE, which has mostly highway miles on it. I didn't like the color or the viscosity of the fluid that came out.

I'm at 97,000 and running strong. Don't forget to do radiator flush and fill. I think I'm going to need my belts done soon. They haven't been done yet. I'm holding out till I get UDP.

Hi guys,

Sorry about the thread hijack it's just I can't start threads with my low post count. I'll be picking up a 2000 Maxima this week with 146,000kms. I know it's slightly high for a 2000 model but it's in good condition and mostly country driving. I know the 4th gen maxima has a timing chain, but I'm not sure about the 5th gen engine. I have a feeling the car won't have had any major servicing done on it. What things should I be checking? Any belts or parts that will be on their way out? My father and I are pretty cluey with cars so most of the work will be done by us, parts will be the only expense.

Once again sorry about the semi hijack but I can't start threads or send PMs.

xplosive... Maximas don't have spark plug wires, they have coil packs at each spark plug.

Get the iridium plugs...

Don't get the Iridium plugs. Get the OEM NGK platinum plugs.

im at 112k on a 00 SE, no problems only routine oil changes, my coil packs have been replaced once(the dot or no dot thing gave that away), and i took out some spark plugs the other day, and they still look okay. ive had the car since 100k i will pry do the trans flush soon, has anyone performed this, might have some pointers? products too use? One thing bad about buying a used high milage car, not sure exactly where u might stand, but has several service notes on carfax.

Man 100K already. Where do you drive??? I have 57K on my, it's 2002. Still kinda a lot, but I bought it when it was 49K, I did 8K in 10 month so far. I guess it's pretty good.

Well, I saw 100K a few months back. I have 118k on my Y2K Max. It still runs like a top and I just had the 17 degree timing advance done at the dealership. It picked up some low rpm power and feels like it has more pop off the line. Quick easy upgrade seemed to remove some of the age on my acceleration. I did new OEM NGK Platinums at 100K and that's about it. I had a faulty coil pack on number 5, but had that replaced and it's run fine ever since. My car has never leaked any fluids and still doesn't, but I am ready for a new set of tires.

I think if you change the oil regularly, you can drive a max forever!
