changing shoks ?

how often is it recomended that shocks are changed? i have 80k miles already and i dont think they were ever changed. the ride seems ok but i got the car with 73k so dont know any better.

any special way to tell if they need changing other than leaky shoks or just plain old bounce of the car? thanx.

not really, go over a speed bump and see how much your car bounces around after that. if it seems to do it excessively, like 3-4 times, then you'll need new shocks. I had my stock shocks to 75 k and they were fine...but since then i've dropped my car.

Just so that you know your car has struts and not shocks.

push the car down on each side, see if it bounces. thats your best bet in determining weither you need a new set or not.

That's right. "Shock absorbers" are physically separated from the car's springs. A "strut," on the other hand, is a shock absorber with a spring that fits around it. Struts are common these days because they save space.
