fixed and repainted my rims w/pics

so i tried the bondo and paint method to fix some curb rash on my rims and repainted them all.

i am not to sure about the color, it came out a lot darker then I thought. however it is growing on me...

Kinda looks like it matches the color of the car. Although, that is a little to dark for my liking.

it is really close. after the second coat of paint, i thought; "wow thats a little dark", then i put on the two coats of clear and it really darkened up...

if I end up not liking it i will just repaint them...

it took a long time mostly because of the bondo to repair them.

apply, let it dry, sand it, reapply, let it dry, resand it...

if you just had to paint it is alot quicker. sand them down with 320-400 grit sandpaper, two coats of primer, two coats of color, and two coats of clear. set aside an entire day because you have to let the paint dry between coats.

if you like the AE finish you should be able to find a place that can match it for you.

see if you can make a silver lip around the edge...that would look nice with the car all washed up too!

hey did you have to sand the whole rim before you painted it or did you prime the whole thing after bondo.

yeah or just get titanium edition rims. i think it is the same finish but the legs are in separate holes rather than behind the centercap. that could be expensive though. i am just going to call my insurance guy and hopefully he can point me to a shop that can match the finish.

they would look even better if you washed the car and got your windows tinted.

i think those look REALLY good...I'm usually not a fan of dark rims either, but since they look like they match your car pretty well, i like them a lot! i agree with everyone else, however, and i think they'll look a LOT better once you get those center caps on!

they came out pretty nice, it would of been nicer if you washed your car and took the pics, but they almost look like gunmetal. nice job..
OT: anyone know the paint color for TE rims?
