Installed SilverStars you be the judge(56K warning)
Well after searching through the org, and a OEM headlight out, I was stuck between PIAA Xtremes and SilverStars for headlight bulb replacements. I didn't get the PIAA's because of cost and I just couldn't find a dealer near Virginia Tech, so SilverStars it was. Overall, the look is nice, and the headlights light up the road. Some Pics...

i like the PIAA GT-X i have in my car. yes they are brighter than the silverstars. everyone i know HATES to drive in front of me, my brother once told me after being in front of me in his SUV, "man lights never bother me, but your are insane".
i have noticed people get out of my way more on the highway at night... that is the best advange of all.
my PIAA's
Just make sure you have a spare one or two on hand. I bought a set about six months ago. One went out about three weeks ago and the other died last week. I keep my lights on all the time so that probably doesn't help the longevity of them. Before that I went through about 5 of the Sylvania ones. They only lasted about 4 months each. I got tired of replacing them so went to the SilverStars.
I just installed a set of the "Ebay" Projectors yesterday and with the bulbs that came with them I'm back to yellow driving for now. I'm thinking of going Halo but don't know if I want to spend that kinda money on them.

ive tried both piaas and the silver stars, imo the piaa extreme whites owned big time. i am now rockin the hids, the piaas are for sale for 40 bux, if ne one is interested.
used PIAA's for a long time.. replace them a few times... then Move to Phillips they were better than PIAA IMO... now changed all that and add the 02-03 HID's looks great........
Add the silverstar in the Fogs and you are done.. for now

i liked my silverstars but then one burned out after 8 months, i went back to cool blue. mainly for cost reason, just cant justify spending more for a headlight bulb. the cool blues were in for a year and now back in for the past 6 months.
so far...the silverstars are a huge improvement visibility wise, and they do have more of a whitish look. I had pictures of the visibility different but they didn't come out very well. I'm probably gonna go the HID route but i'm stuck between the 2k2 lights or staying 2k and going hi/lo. I really like the 2k look...any opinions

Damn those look pretty nice

I am also in the market for some new bulbs. I'm stuck between Piaa Xtreme White Plus bulbs ($55) and the Piaa Super Plasma GTX ($70). I like the GTX but after looking at the bulb I was afraid that they might be too purplish. From your pic..it doesn't look too bad. Do you have any closeup pics?
As for HIDs....I don't have enough money right now for them.
Wow, I'm impressed with those SilverStars. I don't about hte life on those though....my buddy had to replace all in his WRX after about 6months.
I have PIAA extreme white high beams, PIAA Plasma GT-X for the fogs which provide the closest match.
When traffic doesn't respect the HIDs, i switch on my fogs as well.

i had one blow out after 9 mos. they were replaced for free with no problems.
i got mine from LTB Motorsports and they are great to deal with, and they are usually cheaper than anywhere else.
here are the Piaa H4 Bulbs.

I have SilverStar bulbs in my headlights, and I tend to like them.
Here's the deal on them as compared to other Sylvania bulbs...
OEM:
- Longest lasting
- Least expensive
- Halogen
- Yellow-ish in color
Sylvania XtraVision:
- Good life
- Not too expensive
- Halogen
- About 30% brighter than OEM
- Yellow-ish in color
Sylvania SliverStar:
- Short life
- Expensive
- Halogen
- Same brightness as XtraVision
- White in color
- Difficult to see in wet weather
- These are actually Osram Cool Blue products elsewhere in the world. There is a blue filter on each bulb to make the light color 'whiter,' but it is no brighter than the XtraVision.
Osram SliverStar:
- Longer life than Sylvania SliverStar
- Less expensive than Sylvania SliverStar
- Halogen
- Brighter than regular Sylvania SilverStar
- White in color
- Not available in the United States, but are the 'true' SilverStar
With all this in mind, I don't plan on getting another set of Sylvania SilverStars when my current ones go out. The XtraVision ones should do fine, and you can pick up a 2-pack at Wal-Mart for less than $20.
Peace.

I have had my silverstars.........
I have had my silverstars in for over a year in the headlights & the fogs.........no problems. The trick to any bulb includeing the PIAA bulbs is "NO FINGER PRINTS ON THE BULBS" You must make sure they are perfectly clean. Use a lint free cloth & wipe them down then use powderless latex gloves if you must handle the bulb. You will have no problems with any quality bulb if you do these things .You almost have to be surgical when handleing them.
Big Silverstar fan, have them in my other car. Going to purchase Silver 9005 highs and H3 Fogs to go with my stock HID lows. These sizes correct for a 2002? Owner's manual doesn't say, which I think is really weak of Nissan.
I think PIAA are brighter but also 2x or more expensive.
Really enjoying my "new" used car.
O1SE, FYI Osram and Syvania are the same company -- Sylvania is the brand name Osram uses in the states. I buy straight off site since too many auto places run out of silverstar bulbs.

It's just that the U.S. market gets shafted with bulbs that only have the 'SilverStar' name, but are not really the same SilverStars offered elsewhere in the world. We get a modified Cool Blue bulb that doesn't last as long and doesn't perform as well as real SilverStars. And to make things worst, Sylvania prices them higher than the real things to take advantage of the white-light-lovin' market here. Sucks.
Peace.
Wow considerable difference. I don't care for HID, despite growing popularity with cars having them as standard. The bulb on HID are quite expensive cost an arm and a leg from what I've known. I was thinking about getting the SIlverstar for my car, but I am a bit hestiant.
