stock altenator?

my 4th gen seemed to hold up a lot better with my system than my 02. i just put a new battery in a month ago, and just put in my system. i have big amps but im hardly pushin them . im only running 4 ohms on 1 12 from a bd 1001 fosgate and a xtant 4 channel for mids and highs. i was just wondering what everyone else who has systems does. 2nd battery, or bigger altenator? i even have a 1 farad capacitor in, and my dash lights still dim.my hids dont dim but my foglights do, wtf is up wit that? i just dont wanna look ghettofied cruising and my lights are dancing with the music. please let me know what you guys are doing thanks a lot, RYan

I know that the 00-01 have 100-110 amp alternators. It is prob the same for the 02-03. You can dishout the cash and try to get a high output alternator(160+amp). I would not pay more than 400 dollars.
Another option is to get the 125amp alternator off the 4th gen assuming it fits. I don't know if the 4th gen alternator will fit the 02-03, from what I have read, the 95-01 are interchangable.

How hard is it to upgrade a stock alternator? (DIY project?)

Yeah i have a feeling they are weak, although i don't have a system. I'm on my second battery already on my 03.
I did a hour long drive on the expressway, got to my destination, ran into a friends house then came back out and it was dead. How could it be dead after a hour long ride going 80???
