calling all BBK owners
Now that i have done all these mods under the hood now i need some stopping power. I had the 300zx Blehmco kit but my rims spokes didn't clear the calipers. I was recently looking into the Stillen 2 piston BBk. Are there any other kits that are around the same price? I know the names of them but i cant find the prices
PS don't even mention that *** AP BBK because there is no way in hell i am blowing that much on brakes. Hell i'd rather just a$$hole somebody and have my insurance pick up the tab

You can get the Blehmco brake bracket for $150 which will allow you to upgrade to the larger 6th gen rotors using your OEM 5th gen calipers. I would recommend that route; it'll cost $370 to upgrade the whole front end.

I was just thinking about doing that and chroming my stock calipers like doubledea. I wish my 300zx calipers would have fitt. They looked so bad a$$

I've got the Precision/Wilwood kit. Although not as good as the AP kit, it's pretty awesome. I think SSBC is not very good, so I'd stay away from that. If you do the front/rear Blehmco w/Z calipers, that might be cool...otherwise, with stock calipers and '04 rotors, that's pretty weak imo...

how much do you want to spend and what are your overall goals in mind? That should play a huge factor.
-Stillen AP one piston kit
-6th gen caliper with rotors (over the 2 piston stillen kit)
-precision brake kit with wilwoods
personally I wouldn't recommend those ugly looking SSBC croissant calipers

I was on the West North FL. coast last week and I got so many compliments on my front brakes riding thru the town. One of my homegirl has a S14 -s15 strawberry front on it..She was begging for the brakes and my rims.. Then she wanted to trade cars.I gotta thank you for that one Chris. The Brakes sets up my car and the rims esp theres like maybe half inch clearence between the calipers and the spoke of the rims.
Hey Im sure its a long shot but maybe a Crashed G35 Couple with the Brembo Brakes? again Long shot...

I swear when i bolted those calipers up and saw that they didn't fit i almost took a hacksaw to my f^^^ing rims
I not looking for slam your face in the steering wheel stopping ability. Just want something alittle over stock. I am seriously considering the 2k4 calipers and getting them chrome dipped w/ 2k4 rotors

SHhhIIiiiiiettttz / when I went back to my friends shop after grabbing lunch.. he walks out of the shop and paused and said *your very lucky*
Already I had this bad feeling.
When I looked..the calipers barely fit .. I was Shocked . Cause I just brought those rims and didnt want to sell them and buy new ones.
This time things went right for me.

Let me tell you the SSBC are awesome for the price and really well machined, I had not problem installing them, they fit directly without any modification but for most the stopping power is much much better than stock.

does the 300zx calipers require the relocation bracket as well? which would provide better performance than the other? relocation bracket/04 rotors, or the 300zx calipers? i'm getting confused, and don't think i'm ignorant or anything. i've seen these threads before, but have paid no attention to them. after braking from 125 this weekend, it would now be nice to have an upgrade, but not for 1000 +. unless someone has a used set of ap brakes for me.

What's the difference between these two?
See where the mounts are different.....
It even looks like one is bigger than the other.......(top pic)

Do you have some specific reasons to state why the ap is soo much better?
FYI. The SSBC kit is the only one that keeps the frt/rear bias decent. All the other kits except for Matt's frt/rear kit and maybe the kit to run the stock calipers and 2k4 rotors keeps the frt/rear bias decent. I run 13" cobra rotors, 300z calipers and larger rear rotors.
IMHO for a mild upgrade, run the 2k4 rotors AND calipers. Direct bolt on. But check with Irish for the brake line info. Not the blingitiest bbk but it works.

Deckedout2, both of those pictures are of the same kit on Mike's car. the top, larger picture was the prototype set and I moved the caliper way down to make room for the bracket to fit. once I get the parts back from the machine shop, I figured out I could put them up top and they would barely clear the strut bolts. I liked the look up top better, but you can mount the calipers down low like in the top pic if you like as well. simply swap the left/right brackets and flip them upside down. I'm not sure if the brake lines will be long enough then though.
As for the bracket and such, there are pictures of all of the required parts on my website: http://mattblehm.com/300ZX_brakes.html
Why does it look like they're different sizes?
wheel in #1 is a 17" with a slanted face on it so the diameter of the wheel close to the caliper is very small.
the wheel in #2 is an 18" Volk, that's designed for tons of brake clearance, so there's a lot more space around the rotor and caliper.. but those are the same rotors and calipers on both cars- just before and after powdercoating.

I don't know why anyone would say that the SSBC kit isn't a quality kit... just because they don't a$$ r@pe you like all the other BBK makers out there...
You can see here how much bigger the front rotors are on this kit, than your stock rotors...
Here's What they look like installed... and here's with the wheel on

I totally agree with you, many talk $hit about SSBC, but who care, we the one who have their products know how good they are. SSBC products are well machined & design, have a decent price and are very easy to install, no modification is require. The twin pistons kit fit under most 17" wheel, the 20% less distance require to brake can save you from an accident, but I guess to each his own. For less than the price of a Brembo BBK I was able to buy the SSBC and have my rear one chrome process with new rotor, pads, rebuild kit etc.
My 2 cents.
My 2 cents.

"we the one who have their products know how good they are"
that actually brings up a good point cause instead of actually sitting around calculating evidence on paper, many owners of specific BBK's feel and use that increase in braking power everyday and prefer their kits over others. I mean, doesn't it really come down to that... owner preference?
so in this case chrismax should go with ssbc calipers since he needs low cost, decent performance, with specific rim clearance in mind

This is definately good to know, thanks. Currently I'm ISO 300zx Calipers for both front and rear, I'm working with someone on another forum, and I think I'm going to get a killer deal for them including the Ebrake accessories. Would you be able to tell me if there is any difference in the braking between these two different mounts? Does one brake better than the other.
Once I recieve my calipers, I'll be in contact with you for all the necessary brackets.
Thanks again.

If budget would have not been an issue, I would have bought the 6 pistons caliper that sell for 3500$ US. I wont say that SSBC is better than this brand or that brand but one thing for shure it's much better than the stocker and it's a price I could justify, with the left over money I could buy a bunch of other mods.

You will not need any of the parking brake cables or parts from the Z either- the ones I use are from other Nissans and the Z stuff won't fit due to clearance issues behind the rotor with the ABS sensors and wheel hub.
as for peformance, look for some older threads posted by Mike Hill (kwd2kse) after he installed the kit and broke it in.. He was EXTREMELY happy with them.
there are several other .org members who have purchased the kit, but I have yet to hear from anyone that's actually installed it yet.

Important thing to mention though, is that even though I had 18" wheels, I still had to user wheel spacers (about 5/16") to get enough clearance - this is with my 2K and the old rims, my 2K2 with the Volks don't need spacers.
They also have a 12" rotor kit HERE for 17" wheels.
If you're interested in SSBC's 4-Piston Setup, it's HERE
I bought mine directly from SSBC.

thanks for all the links bro. I think this is exactly what i need. Should these have more caliper clearance than w/ the 300zx. I am running 19x8 wheels w/ a 35mm offsett and already have 10mm spacers on the front.

^^ when my friend had my brakes on I thought it looked weird with the calipers down that way.My 1st impression was it shake more with the calipers the way they are postion in this pic.
We later just flip the brackets and had them relocated upmount. (on top) it feels sooooo much better and brake-ing is awesome now.
Im debating if I should upgrade the rear calipers to a skyline setup.
My friend shop has alot of parts and im still trying to figure out if this will fit because the rear skyline setup looks samilar to the 300zx.
