Who uses RadioShack ballast for DDE Angel Eyes?

Can someone please remind me who uses RadioShack ballast for DDE angel eyes? I remembered that he claimed his angel eyes were a little brighter, so I wanna PM him about that.

That's me with the balasts for the DDe's. I got them from an electronic store called ITC in Los Angeles, CA. ITC Calls them inverters. They come bare and you would need plastic boxes to insulate them from the elements. They are 6.99 each and yes they do make the rings noticably brighter. Each ring has its own dedicated ballast and does not have to share with another ring. It only makes sense that it is going to be brighter. I purchased two for one side because the original one went out and noticed the difference when I installed it. So, I went back to the store and picked up two more for the other side. I also got plastic boxes to house them in since they come bare.

To those who really want a set of four, I can do it but since I am extremely busy, you will have to wait like Daminsta did. $40 for four inverters bare and it could take up to several weeks for me to deliver them. If you can wait I will pick them up and mail them out to you. I make no money off this venture and take valuable time from my day to make orger's happy. I require no money up front but if you commit then there is no backing out.

Daminsta, I suggest that you do one side first and then compare the difference. By the way, there is no need to cut any wires. Crack open Umnitza's ballast box, unplug the wires, and replug them into the new ballasts. Also I suggest that you do not reuse Umnitza's boxes since part of the box is metal and if the ballast touches the metal they won't work. They won't blow, they just wont turn on. Take your time and do it right.

Do you think you could ask them (ITC) if they'd be willing just to take orders over the phone and ship them direct to ppl who want them? Less hassle for you + maybe they'd do it at a discount for sets of 4?

Hinerman, I'll bet that the ones that you used for the neon on the computer will work just fine. Our DDe's are are just neon anyways.

Dude there is going to be no discount for four. These guys sell electronics on a large scale. Purchase say 400 and maybe you can get a discount. Here is their telephone number (213)388-5416. They are located in Los Angeles Ca. so use your cell if you are out of state. You can visit their site but the inverters are not listed there. http://www.itcelectronics.com/default.asp.

To those who want a set of four. Call ITC, speak with Carmen and let her know that Edward Lee had you contact her about the inverters. She will know what you are talking about and be able to get them shipped out to you. Lets all be on the same page and call these things what they really are, inverters not ballasts. Good Luck to all and make sure that you have your credit card ready as that is the only way you are going to be able to pay. They ship via UPS.

Thank you, Danimsta for contributing to this thread! I'll give them a call tomorrow morning.

Danimsta, do us all a favor. Install the new 'inverters' this weekend, take lots of pictures for comparison between Umnitza's 'inverters' and the ones you got from Edward.

Edward, when you say they're brighter, just how brighter are they compared to using 2 ballasts for the 4 rings? Is it worth the amount of money spent and trouble?

I wonder if we are going to see decreased ring life with the higher power inverters.

I wouldn't do until one of the inverters blows. When it does blow then go with the dedicated inverters. By the way, no tourble in changing them out. All you do is crack open the Umnitza boxes and unplug the wires, then plug them right into the new inverters. You'll have to find boxes for the inverters from ITC as they come bare. ITC sell the boxes also.
