Stolen Headlights Question 02-03's

I have a quick question about these cases of stolen headlights in the 02-03 maxima models... How exactly do they steal the headlights without opening up the hood? I used to have a sentra and the light was bolted to a piece of the inside frame, which u could only access by lifting the hood...I do not have my Maxima yet, pick it up tomorrow from the dealer, so I haven't looked, but I'm curious how they steal these lights w/o prying at the hood. Are they going through the grill? Is there any current way that we can protect these lights better from being stolen than our eyes and ears? any help would be appreciated, thanks a lot

Why don't you just ask, "What is a better way to protect my headlights?" rather than "How do people steal our headlights without opening the hood?" and then at the end asking about protecting them.. I have a feeling you are not going to get any answers, so ask the dealership, they have something to protect them...

ok,I'll rephrase then to: "What is a better way to protect my headlights?"... I will also ask the dealership on this tomorrow...but i'd like a specific part or something to ask for, so thats why I seek here for the info. Thanks

do a search; there were many threads on this out there and it's never a good idea to start another one.

oxygen... Courtesy Nissan - you can order the HID theft prevention kit for something like $40 or so.

It provides a metal flange to protect the hood cable, a different latch mechanism for the hood, and break-off bolts for the HIDs themselves.

This has been WAYYYY overdiscussed. Bottom line is this... if someone REALLY wants your HIDs, they will stop at nothing to get them.

best thing to do is to not buy hids. But you cant really avoid that so my guess would be fabricate yourself something to protect them.

they showed this on TV news a while back in NY...........

i can't discuss in details since people will get their PMSes on me, but i can tell you that it was fairly easy and extremelly quick.

about the retention bar from the dealer, do not get it, let them just steal it with minimal damage, the retention clip will make damage worse by a thief who won't stop at nothing to get ur lights.

You think? If you started telling people on here how to steal my headlights, I'd get pissed at you as well.

These threads suck and are a complete waste of time.
