VIAS mod

I was looking in the VIAS mod to fix the problem, I was wondering is 2001 have the same problem?

Would warranty fix that kind of thing?

Is there some way to tell if its broke or messed up without pulling the whole thing appart?

Yes. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/763858/5

Yes...but all they would do is replace it and it would fail again.

The only way you can tell is that if your acceleration starts to drop off after 5000k RPM...but I'll bet that it has gone already.

Probably not. If it pulls hard to the redline, especially if it has a slight surge from 5K+ you're probably OK. To be fair, I bought a spare intake manifold from a 2K motor that was trashed and its VIAS was in perfect order. It's possible that this problem might not happen to *everyone* for whatever reason (which I don't know).

I stripped two of them. My advice is when you finally do get them off, replace them with something better that won't strip so easily.

I just did this VIAS mod yesterday... the screws were a sono***un to get off, but if you apply straight pressure onto the screw and turn slowly with a large regular head screwdriver, you'll get them... with minimal damage (ugh).

My VIAS still had the little cup attached, although it was loose and shaky. I cleaned the whole thing with the cleaner and put JB Weld in the bottom of the cup, let it set overnight. Put it back together today and it seems a lot better now...
