AAMCO's Power Purge Transmission Flush

Is AAMCO's Power Purge Transmission Flush really that different from other places? They claim they flush it 100%, while their competitors do only 75% of the work. Is it worth spending twice as much money? What do you guys recommend, AAMCO or any other place? Thanks.

1) What's AAMCO cost vs. Nissan for full flush?
2) Are you in/out of warranty?

I still only take my Maxima to Nissan for work like that. When I was "In" warranty for obvious reason but still now b/c I know a couple of mechanics.

To me, $140 dollars for a flush by Nissan certified mechs is well worth the money, and the piece of mind, imo.

Why not do it yourself?

If you change your own transmission fluid with some Redline MT-90, it's going to shift and operate smoother and lubricate better than any place you take your car to to flush the transmission, and cost you about 1/3rd the price. Also you didn't mention whether you have an auto or 5spd/6spd.

So in other words it's not worth spending $150 at AAMCO or the dealer's because anyone can do it for me, right? That was my original question.

go to this forum and read the stickies... it's EASY to change your tranny fluid, not much different than changing your own oil... http://forums.maxima.org/forumdisplay.php?f=70

I got the power flush from Aamco for only $99. Oh and BTW, you get a flush every year for the life of your car as long as you bring it back to the same shop. IMO its worth the $99 and you can't overlook they are transmission experts.

Aamco's power purge is no better than any other reputable trans shop. You can do it by removing a cooler line and start up the car, just add new fluid as the old gets pumped out the line into a bucket. It should pump out about a quart every 20 seconds. After about 10 quarts it should be clean. Be ready to shut it down fast in case you disconnected the wrong line.
