i just put a lower grill on my max. You can't even see the zip ties unless you look for them.

I have the same problem when I bought them, that's why I never installed the buggers. I'm actually trying to fabricate a frame using SS rivets to hold it in place and brackets to mount it. I want that same "bulge" that the stock grille has, not the grille tech's flat style. It's been 3 months off and on trying to get it right.

I have had my lower grills installed with zip ties for around 18 months and have not had a problem with them coming loose. The only problem has been that I have had to paint them because of the rust.

I have been working on getting a grill created for the 02 and 03 folks. I sold a couple of them, one got damaged in shipping and Jason B. gave me some tips to make it better. I welded a stud to the back of the grill and fabbed up a bracket with a bolt welded to it to make the connection to the car. My only problem now is getting my supplier to cut the grill inserts right, i just got 9 of them in.... all wrong.... doh! He is going to re-cut them for me on his dime, so I'm hoping to use the uppers that are wrong to make some lower inserts. Please see the website below with an idea of how the bracket works, it's towards the lower part of the page.

I've had the 3 piece Grille tech on my 02 max for about 1.5 yr, and they've hold out pretty well, but now the rust is starting to become a problem (expose metal, due to chips from highway driving, has rust on it). So I was planing on painting them (a matching metallic color) but one problem I have with these grill inserts won't be solved. The problem is that, from a distance, because there is no backing material, all the light exposes the stuff behind the grill...i.e. ulgy radiator, horn, etc.. I've painted want I could (really can't paint a radiator I believe) but to me, I wish there was a way to have the same grill without exposing what's behind it (as much or at all). And in the pic of your grill, it looks like you've added mesh behind the molded piece. And my question is, does that added mesh piece reduce, if not, elimidate the radiator and horn sightings???

I used a piece of .060 thick aluminum with holes in it to back the material that you see in the front. This prevents viewing of the horn and all the other parts you don't want people to see.

Where can I order a set of these and what do they cost?

I have seen a friends 2002 and they look good even if they are just zip tied in place, just use black zips.
Thanks,
