Straight/Race pipe owners step in
If I install a straight pipe on my 5th gen. Cali spec will I get an engine code?
Failed main cat?
Also, does the pipe increase exhaust note/noise?
Does anybody have a race pipe, Frankercar b-pipe, and a stock muffler? If so, how loud is it compared to stock?

should get no codes because there are no p2 sensors behind the cat like in fed spec maximas. it will increase noise to a somewhat raspy tone because it is removing the restriction of the cat (in my case). i put a straight pipe on after i had headers, 18" resonated custom 2.25 b pipe leading the stock muffler. the tone at startup was nice but at wot it sounded somewhat raspy. the flanges were rather weak on mine and tended to leak. i put the stock cat back on for emissions testing and to get rid of the leak. i will probably put it back for my upcoming dyno.

IMO, you will lose a little bit of low-end torque, but the sound it makes is very nice. I just gutted out my RT high-flow cat for the hell of it and I am enjoying it so far. IF you encounter the dreaded SES light, O2 simulators will solve the problem.

I currently have a Budget test pipe behind my Budget ypipe and the car sounds awesome at idle. It really has a very nice deep tone and I have gotten compliments from a lot of my fellow Max owners here in OK. As far as hp improvements go, I have seen none, but the improvement in sound was well worth the 20 bucks.
