Almost 100 Deg no AC PLEASE HELP

Hello everyone. Ill get straight to the point heres my problem

Car:
2k Max GLE with Automatic Temp contril gauge

When i go to turn on my ac it just blows warm air. When i press the AMB button it always says -22 deg which is WAYYYY OFF its almost 100 deg here. The heater works fine though. Anyway the car has lubricant and the R134. the AC lines dont get cold either and when i press the release valve the R134 does come out. The one thing that is not workin is the compressor. the compressor does not event urn on. Does anyone have any kind of diagnosis.

Im trying to stay away from the high priced dealership so any help would be greatly appreciated.

oh boy dude.. sorry to say if you hit the A/C button and you don't hear the clutch on the compressor kick in, then the compressor might be the culprit. Check all your fuses and stuff before going to the big stuff. Sadly to say, 95% says its the compressor

I agree, it's probably the compressor. Def. check all the fuses first. Sometimes it's something as simple as that. Stay cool.:-)

It's possible that the accident caused the refrigerant to leak out. If this is the case, the system shuts off so as to not damage the compressor. It does this because the refrigerant also lubricates the compressor. No refrigerant = no lube = death to the comp.

Worth a try to get the system leak checked and if there are no leaks, evacuated and refilled.

well last nite i had a friend who used to work for a dealership check it out and there was refrigerant and lube in it so i dont think its a leak. We put a screwdriver to the AC hose release and the green lubricant came out so he said theres no leak. any other suggesitons? I still have a feeling they didnt plug something in when i had it fixed.

What would cause the AMB to say -22?

You can get a compressor cheap on ebay.

you might have a corroded connection some where along the line, If your rad busted during the crash.

An easy way to check the compressor is to run a hot wire to it and if it doesnt turn on the clutch is bad or the complete compressor is. I had the same problem and it was a relay.

no to be silly... but at first I didnt know how to run the A/C.... then I realized it would only run if I turn the AUTO and not only turning the FAN and dropping the temperature...

If you knew how to turn on the A/C (and it has worked in the past) just ignore this post. It is more for newbies (like myself) that didnt know the A/C would only run on AUTO mode.

Later

Isn't 22 the main error code for the auto a/c system?
Check around here for the way to put the auto a/c system into diagnostics mode, it will flash trouble codes.

After my car accident, my ambient temperature read -22 degrees. I also realized that at the same time, my coolant leaked out, therefore, the compressor wasn't engaging. I told the shop to order another ambient sensor (since I thought it was damaged because the display read "-22" and it was actually 50 degrees). Of course they put coolant back into the system and the A/C works fine. Now, I'm positive that the A/C works because they re-filled the coolant, but I don't know if the "-22" was a result of no coolant in the system, or a bad ambient sensor.
