O2 Sensor question
O2 Sensor question
Hey guys, we have a 2000 Maxima with 16k miles (yeah, low mother in law miles) and the CEL came on. The code showed a bad O2 sensor (I don't remeber what the code was, 140 or something). I started reading old posts here and I found the info on the TSB's related to the ECU programming. I called the dealer, told them about the code and TSB's and they are telling me that there is nothing that can be done under warranty and that we just need to change the O2 sensors. Does this sound right? Doesn't the TSB indicate that the O2 sensors might not actually be bad? Thanks for the help.
if this is for a fed spec then the tsb shows the replacement of 1 secondary o2 sensor along with the ecu flash. if its cali spec, then the tsb shows a replacement of both secondary o2 sensors along with ecu flash. the tsb is typically covered 3yr/36k unless you have an extended warranty. the sensor has already gone bad and the ecu flash without replacing the bad sensor would not help anything. i had the same P0140 cel about a year ago. nissan replaced both and did the flash under extended warranty even with the y pipe i had at the time.
