Miles per tank using A/C

Actually I saw a show that tested two identical cars and rode one with the windows down and one with the AC on and windows up. In the end the car with the AC used less gas.
Re MPG and how AC affects, how many miles are you guys getting from a full tank? I barely reached 300 miles, and since it's turned hot here so AC was on everyday. Granted I'm commuting and there is lots of stop and go, but what miles are some of you guys getting from one tank?

I get 45 mpg. I only drive downhill.

Dude, seriously, don't ask that question. It's like me saying my Injen's better than a Berk or asking what tire's the best (Pilot Sport A/S...) or how fast have you had your car up to (149...) or any number of questions sure to get a fast response. Albeit, it's funny to watch some of these hot-heads argue...

yea I did... Thanks guys. Just a quick question... If the ac takes some horsepower from the engine doesnt that mean that the engne is working harder with the AC on, so its putting more stress on the engine, which will cause problems? Am I just being too paranoid. and thinkingking in terms of '87 cars...

If you floor it (WOT) the A/C compressor turns off and no power loss is ecperienced. ... You're being paranoid as all might hell too. It's not 1987, it's 2005, and my 1995 has been run vigorously in desert heat w/ a/c with no problems ... as well wel my 2003

Thanks for the links Puppet -- I see the question was asked in late May, and the guy gets a bunch of answers. And the question was related to the thread. But I guess it's different when you're a newbie.

lol no argument there...i'm from Texas, where we have 100+ temps WITH 90% humidity...i think i'd rather spend a day at the lake here than be over there...even though i'm bored as all hell without my car!
