ethonol gas

theres only one gas station where i live that has over 91 octane gas, but they use ethonol. i can get 94 octane for the same price as 91 octane without ethanol. i heard that ethanol isnt good for cars tho, they clog fuel injectors and fuel filters? anybody use ethanol in their cars for a long time? can i get away with using 92 octane with ethanol?

They only use about 10% ethanol and there are no adverse effects from it. I am aware that Husky and Mohawk in Canada use 10% ethanol, but I haven't seen anything that suggests Chevron, Esso, Shell, Petro Canada use it.

In addition, you don't need over 91 octane. Can't you get Chevron - its 92 octane in BC (they also have 94 at higher cost) and I don't believe it has ethanol.

I think your fears are unfounded and you should worry about the weather instead.

The amount of ethanol they use is just fine for the gasoline engines used today. The only bad effects of 10% ethanol are slightly higher price and slightly lower mileage.

The price is the same where I live and I have noticed no effect on my fuel economy.
