PIAA is good. i don't know if HELLA makes bulbs for the max. Silverstars are so-so in comparison to the PIAA, but it all comes down on how much you want to spend.

I think you mean headlight BULBS but yes PIAA are ok, never used them but have friends who loved them and also Silverstar lights up the road and gives a "slight" blue tint. The PIAA can be found here http://www.customenterprise.com/view.../vts/design017... NOT the best price but atleast a reliable place. Anywho I hope that helped a lil

i like my silverstars. expensive, but very bright and white. and honestly i dont see the blue hue at all in em; theyre just very white. so dont get em if you want a blue (thats what the cool blues are for). but anyways i really like my silverstars and im thinkin bout puttin on the lexus yellow fogs wid em on mine.

Incase you didnt see my other post, PIAA's are low quality, painted bulbs....they heat up excessively and this leads to failure...and in my case, and other cases Ive seen..1 month or less! I couldnt believe that a $30 bulb blew out after one month...and it was bought online, the warrenty on the box says to contact dealer...im not runnig around like a jerk and waiting forever over a $30 bulb. Basically, they are a rip off and the performance is great when they work, but the quality isnt there..without that who cares how they look. THey also make HID look bad because they are so darn colorful....bright? no brighter than stock.

hmm..interesting..i've had mine in for 6+ months now, and both my fog housings are cracked, but i haven't had any problems...personally, i love my super plasmas....they're really white, and they match the HIDs perfectly...personally, i don't care how bright my fogs are, cuz the only time i use them without my headlights are in foggy, cloudy, or rainy conditions where you don't really need the light output unless it's really dark, but i did notice a difference in light output from stock...with my stock yellow halogens, if i were to have them, and only them on at night, they seemed to be about as bright as my clearance lights....veeery dim...with these, i can navigate through my driveway with ease at night (the only time i've ever had just these on at night was in my driveway cuz i was moving my car, and i didn't want to have to turn on my HIDs for a total of 15 seconds...) just my .02

I've owned 7 or 8 sets of PIAA bulbs. During that time, only 1 bulb burned out within 6 months. The rest were still working after 12+ months.

$30 seems a bit low for PIAAs though....are you saying they were $30 each? I got mine for something like $54 (can't really remember) for the pair at www.optauto.com ... maybe you got a PIAA knock off? I've seen those on ebay...

EDIT: it was ~$53 shipped..

I have been reading this thread for a little while and I noticed that a few of you have the silverstar bulbs for headlights and fogs. My question is why are my fogs brighter than my headlights and I use silverstars in both of them? I had my lenses cleaned before I put them in and they still not as bright. Could somebody tell me what they think about that?

I use to have a pair of Piaa Super Plasma H4 and they lasted me over 6 months but suddenly one of the bulbs died. From a distance they look pretty close to HIDs because they look a little purplish. They are pretty white on a clear night but a little hard to see in the rain.
Right now I have Piaa Extreme White Plus which I got on ebay for $52 shipped. I've had these for about a month and a half now. They are definitely brighter and whiter than stock and they light up the road pretty well. From a distance you could see a hint of blue.

As for the Piaa spark blue...I was close to buying a set on ebay just because it was cheap but I decided not too because I read that the Spark blue looks really nice but does not light up the road well. If you want something that blue...get real HIDs...at least those will definetely light up the road and blind a couple drivers in front of you.

SORRY for the long post> Just trying to help.

Could depend on how you have them aimed... The fogs may be aimed more toward the sky and the headlights could be aimed lower to illuminate the ground. NOT SURE, but just guessing, but just because they look brighter does NOT mean they are... Just my guess, once again

i'm guessing your either an 00-01 max (5th gen) with the stock halogens, correct? i believe that would mean you have an H4 headlight or 9004 (same thing) the fogs are H3...if you have a 5.5 gen (02-03) then you have D2R HID bulbs with separate 9005 halogen high beams...

From what i can tell the fogs are aimed at the groung and the lights are dead center. I had the car checked out by my cuz who does body work and the car has hasn't been hit from what he can tell(we checked the underside also).I can live with it, but I just want my lights bright with out going HIDs for now.

i had the PIAA super plasma GT-X before 02-03 headlights and they were pretty nice actually. it gave more of a purple tint rather than blue, but the closest to HID look i think. highbeams are bright and very light blue. aim your headlights high with GT-X's and you'll have headlights that look closest to HID (it looks brighter for oncoming traffic, like xenons.
