Running Light Rewire - Anyone Done It?

On 2K, I would like to make my parking corner light (on the headlight) to be the running light instead of the main light. Has anyone done this, is there a wiring diagram I could reference, how-to? I seached and read back as far as 2002 posts and found nothing, only on fog lights... Thanks :-)

What exactly are you trying to do? Put your main headlight beam in your corner light section? Please be more descriptive.

are you just trying to do the foglight re-wire so that your fogs can come on with only your corner lights, and not your headlights?? your 'question' is very confusing...

ooooohhh! you're in canada, therefore you have the DRL's (daytime running lights)...are you asking how to re-wire it so that your clearance lights are your DRLs rather than your headlights?

Yes :-) That's it! Would you have any ideas how to do it?

The way the DTRL work is that the high beam element in the H4 bulb is getting low voltage when the high beam is off. If you connect the parking light + to the high beam terminal and – to any ground the parking light will come on with the car running. But how it will work with the high beam on and off I don’t know.

I have a better idea how to wire your parking light as DTRL. Find a fuse under the dashboard which gets power when you tern the ignition on. Run a wire thru the driver side fender well (remove the plastic cover). Connect this wire to the + of the parking light. I had to do this for the tail lights because over here the tail lights must be on with the DTRL. I bought my 01 Max in Ottawa and had to do some modifications to meet the European requirements.

Makes sense, but what do I do with the headlights? They will still come on under DRTL... I would like them to be off and for the corners to be on instead...

Probably you can do it with the parking brake switch. When the brake is on, the DTRL are off.
