LED's in Gauges...again

Ok,now that i know my 01 gauges have needles that cannot be sanded down to clear, would it be difficult to remove the needles from a '98 gauge cluster, put the '98 needles (sanded so they are clear) on my '01 gauge cluster, then do the LED mod to my '01 gauges???

OR, would you do the entire mod to the '98 cluster, then take out the 01 gauges and replace the entire gauge housing/unit. Are they interchangable like that?? pull out the 01 joint, plug in the '98

(1) The needle stems are identical ergo are fully interchangeable
(2) There is an LED mod for our gauges? Did I miss this?
(3) The wiring harnesses are different and would require that you splice all +20 wires from a '98 harness to ours. I want to try this, but I'll be da'mned if I can find one for <$120.

20+ WTF, it looks like 100+ wires lol

I am thinking of installing the 4th gen needles in my buds 00 and doing the LED needle mod for 4th gens to his cluster. I installed blue 194's in his 00 and it looks nice but the needles did not light up too good.

what cant you find for less than $120. another set of gauges?

Im gonna get one from a '98 for $50. My concern is the soldering, led and resistor connecting to my oem gauges. Which is why i would have rather done everything on the '98 gauges,so if i mess up,oh well. If it goes right, then i swap out my 01 cluster. I guess its not easy though. Is that kid from petah.org from Jersey? hes got a nice lil writeup, and his came out awesome

because then i still have no clear needles. Or are you suggesting ( and i think you are lol) i get my 4th gen gauges/needles, AND a new 01 cluster. I dont think i can justify ( to myself) spending that much money on this project.
An org member is selling me his 4th gen cluster, and said he can get me a wiring harness also if i want it. Would this help me in any way? The gauges are one area of the max i havent taken apart/toyed around with so i dont know too much about teh subject. Im just asking you cause you're LED'ing everything possible it seems
