Cleaning under the hood
Under the sticky about cleaning there are some suggestions but I'm curious as to some more details...
We all know the engine can get dusty or soiled from daily usage etc...
Now there are some commercial products in the auto stores for engine detailing etc...now doesn't taking a hose to the engine potentially lead it to rusting? Or degreasers strip some important lubircants?
Just curious and wondered what some of the more experienced members do?

try steam clean your engine... it's at www.maximadriver.com but i never tried it so i dunno if it works
well i work as a detailer and i can tell you that your engine is not going to rust from spraying water on it...think about it...after a big rainstorm, take a look under your hood...it will be soaked...it is not sealed
we normally just use a pressure sprayer on a heat setting (which is essentially a steam clean...
and degreaser is amazing...one of the best products you can buy...spray it on your rims and on all of the bugs on your front bumper or headlights or window...you can spray it on paint as long as you spray it off with water within 15 minutes or so
