it would be too much of a pain to put that jl in and would not be worth it. You would have to build a box to seal it up and more than likely have to use fiberglass. If it was a free air 8" sub then i would say go for it but since you want to put that in there i say dont do it, just keep the 8" in there for mid's and get a single 12 or 10 in the trunk for some lows.

yea that one 8 inch woofer costs as much as alot of good dual woofer set ups with an amp lol or 1 woofer. no sense in puttin it in there.....i jsut pulled my bose sub out and use it as a port of such for the bass.

i thought of doing the same as well, but like the first person said JL subs are not ment for free air. the only one i found that was reasonable in terms of power of like a image dynamics one....but it was really weak....

If you don't listen to a lot of rap, then a 9kv2 from Elemental Design is great. I went from a 13Ov2 in the trunk to the 9kv2 (which is really 8") without the box in the back deck, and it sounds great for rock. You will get rattle from the back deck however, no matter how much dynamat you have.

I bought a 1 cu. ft. box on ebay and paid extra to double wall the baffle. I then dropped in a 12" Infinity Perfect. Then I removed the BOSE speaker on my back deck and the bass is awesome.
