My VIAS and ME!!!
My VIAS and ME!!!
Well I've been doing a little testing to check out this whole VIAS thing. I'll admit, I don't take my car to 5K RPM's on a regular basis but I've been trying to see what all the rage is about. I just don't see much difference in my car. I don't loose any power but I don't really feel a pickup in power either. Should I be feeling at least a little something? I took the solenoid off today and inspected it, seems fine to me. The cup was in tact and twisting it by hand I could tell it is operating as it should. Is there some way electrically that I can check to make sure it is opening and closing as it should be?
yeah stand over the motor and look on the side of your vias. use the throttle cable to rev teh engine and if you see the rod under the vias control unit(not sure what it's called) move then everything is ok. with our intakes you don't feel the power increase like the honda's with vtec. ours is very suddle. i can hear mine with my intake and exhaust. the car just sounds more pissed off up top to me.

there is a linkage rod right below the vias assembly, and it moves about an inch or so when you rev up high.....you can't miss it moving, very apparent.
The vias problem is with the connection between the cup and the power rod inside the manifold. Without removing the vias assembly its very hard to tell if there's a problem. If the VIAS is broken internally, the solenoid and external rod still work (usually). Page 5 of my cardomain page (link below) has all the poop.
