I want to get a tv in my car... i do not wanna remove the BOSE system that i have... I was thinking of putting it under the climate controls where the hazard switch is and the ashtray but when the car is parked teh shifter is in the way and you cant see it... a good place for it also could be about the A/C vents in the center but then it is easily visible from outside of the car and i dont want anyone breaking my windows for it... so now i am put into a dilema of where should i put the screen... this is something like what i want http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1238249378

so lemme know what u suggest me to do...

I think youj should just remove the bose system and put an indash car screen that folds in and out. I have done that and it looks really clean, and is much better than retrofitting a screen under the climate.

Well below the climate controls the unit won't fit. according to the dimensions listed the bottom of the unit would not fit into the location without some major mods. I know you said you don't want to change your bose, but I can't see anyway to do it.

You could remove the bose and go with a single din unit. once that single din is in there you can either mount it on the lower portion of the mounting braket that will make plenty of room to put it where the air vents are and in perfect position for viewing. or you could get real wild and crazy and put the headunit up at the top where the air vents are and put the screen in the double din hole there in the console. either way you look at it, if you want a central location you can't do it w/o removing the bose with this unit. you could mount it in the dash infront of the passenger seat but cuts down on your viewing.

since you def want to keep your bose your gonna have to do some major mod's to get it to fit. and the only location suitable, you said you don't want it in.

just remember nothing comes easy and in the stereo dept you have to make trade offs. trade off here the bose or the tv. your choice.

yea, getting rid of the bose system would be the easiest.

get one of those automated lcd screens (alpine), they slide in when not in use, so noone can see it.

you could also strip that down, so its bare, and custom fit it, leaving you room for at least 2 headunit-sized stuff.

but you'll need to get rid of that bose!

Why don't you get rid of your speedometer and tach gauges and put it there. It appears you'll be watching TV and not much else. j/k

Do you want it for front seat people, rear, or both? If it is just for the rear, I saw in Pep Boys a center console with a built in TV. I was surprised to see it there. Perhaps it could be modified. They also have the headrests you can purchase with the screen built in.

What about something that flips down from around the mirror area?

How about building it into the part of the sunroof which you slide back and forth by hand. It may sit too far back for that and it may not allow you to slide it back to have a full view of the sun/moon, either. Just a thought, but it doesn't sound like you have many choices unless you get rid of the Bose.

Get rid of the rear view mirror and mount the screen between the visors and add a camera under the rear bumper so you can see what's behind. Clarion makes a rear vision unit.

Alpine makes one that folds down out of the roof. You can modify and take out the sunglass holder an put it there!

I think rocketship has an idea here. This could be done, the only thing you have to consider is the controls for the sunroof. You could easily move these to the center console. If you don't have the heated seat, then you could run the switches to the spot where the heated seat switches would be. The screen wouldn't be very big, but it would be pretty decent sized.

yea the switches wouldnt be a problem because there are a lot of places to move them... i do have heated seats but i could always move them to the left side of the steering wheel there are a bunch of openings for buttons there... i dunno what kind of unit i could fit there... i have to take measurements and see what will fit there... I was also thinking maybe i can just mount it ontop of the center vents and then just remove the screen each time i leave the car... but it will be a big hassle... i dunno i have to see what my options are and which will be the easiest, which will be the cheapest and which will be the best looking and then make a compromise between the three... thanks a lot for the feedback!

Re: Re: Put the TV...

My friend did this in his car and it looks really sweet. That is best place if you want to keep your radio. The one that you put on the dash is doofy. The one that folds out of the ceiling is sealth. Put the sunroof switch to the left of the steeringwheel.
