Unplug your MAF sensor and see what it does, if nothing changes...it might be that.

Slow down ... I read the entire thread, but it's hard to keep track of what the symptoms are at present.

Does the car turn over but not catch? or is the problem that the car just won't turn over?

If battery was dead when tested and car started after u got a new battery and a new starter, your altenator is no good. Maybe im wrong but I would look into it.

the car does turn over but wont start..........i dunno man........ i checked the spark plugs to see if it was gettin spark and it wasnt so i changed the plugs since i was going to anyway down the road and still nothing has changed except for the fact that now with the new plugs it looks like its not gettin spark...........i talked to a mechanic over the phone because i cant even jump start it and he sounded really confused as to whats happening, an all he said was i have to get in there and look but it was a nissan mechanic an the diagnostics is $90 just for them to look at it!!!!!!! an the car was being towed alot before this happened i dunno if that is a factor in it not working or what

Try your other key. Might be a keyfob problem.

no spark... so check the coils...

if you're getting spark and it's turning without starting.. look at your fuel system.. maybe bad fuel pump, clogged fuel line or filter, or even bad gas

Cam/crank sensor issue is my bet. Probably dislodged a sensor when you changed the starter. If you are not receiving spark, the plugs should be nice and wet with gas after 30-45 secs. of cranking the engine.

BTW, clean your battery terminals and inspect the wiring harness to and from the battery and starter for corrosion. You probably wasted money.

fuel line isnt clogged because i unplugged the line and turn the key and gas spilled everywhere...lol but maybe it was just a bad job when the starter was installed and pushed the cam/crank sensor, im going to check that now. by the way where is it exactly??

Sounds like a bad engine ground possibly. Is that main ground that goes from the battery to the body to the engine on ? It should connect right around the area where the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine.

Personally I would look at sensor readings while cranking the car over to see what it does read. I'm seeing a possibility of that wire being knocked off. Do you have a aftermarket intake on the car ? Is your boost sensor hooked up ? Its the one that sits on the air scoop that runs from the radiator support to the air box. Only 1995-2000 Maximas have this sensor, 01s have utilized a MAP/BARO sensor into the ECU just like the 02-up cars. Boost sensor will cause the car not to fire up eighter.
