Does anyone know of an aftermarket CD changer that will hook up directly to the Bose system without an FM modulator?

dont write off the OEM as too expensive

I got my OEM changer and kit for $350 from Courtesy with our discount. The OEM is a Clarion CV737 (dont waste your time trying to find it, its OEM only). Anyway, its not too expensive to get the real deal. Although, you'll save $75 by using the aftermarket.

How much would an install cost?

How hard would it be to install for an average person with no real experience? Would the entire front dash by the radio need to come off?

I would consider myself of average ability

with car stuff and I didnt have any trouble. the instructions are very good. There are a few puzzles, like removing the center vent, but if you know how its supposed to come off then it isnt that bad. If you get it, we'll help you here. its a 2 hour job. it requires patience more than skill. the instructions say to use a towel and masking tape around the egdes so you dont gouge the soft plastic of the dash.. be sure to do this as it tells you to. thats the biggie. there arent any airbag wires or anything scary to do.

I think the dealer charges $200 to install. I was glad I did mine. I was terrified of diggin into the dash, but people here had pics for me and gave me plenty of insight as to what I would see and how to get in. Very glad I did it myself. I plan on having the car for awhile and I'm not nearly as afraid to look for a rattle or adjust something. helped build confidence and understand the car a bit more.

Dash/ vent removal

Does anyone have any info re. removal of the center console and dash for installation of the oem cd changer. The instructions w/ the changer are thorough, but refer to the maint manual (which I don't have) when detailing removal of the dash (for access to the back of the head unit) to connect the new wiring harness. Thanks in advance.... Pat
