I was accelerating today up a hill pretty hard (almost had the pedal to the floor) when I went over a pot hole and the car instead of going over it like it normally would made a loud and pretty violent bang. I got off the gass immediatly because I was concerned. Got out of the car made sure nothing was leaking from the car and got back in a gave it some gass off the line to see if the tranny would slip. It didnt slip. seemed to be fine but that bang got me really nervous. I am guessing its cause our cars are front wheel drive. Is this sort of thing normal?

 

sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but when you run over a pothole, it usually goes 'bang'. If you were accellerating, it would have increased the 'bang' since the momentum of the car pushed it harder into the back lip of the pothole.....

 

Yeah, I think that it was the pothole but you might want to check your alignment because it could be thrown off now especially if you hit that pothole that hard!!!
