At the wheels? I don't think anyone has done that NA.

only way is to turbo it, if you're talking 300whp. Looking at $5K to start, plus you'd need full exhaust, injectors, etc etc etc....let's say $10K just for fun.

if you are talking about crank hp, you should get close w/ headers, catback, intake, and a pulley

Or you can always have custom rods, pistons..etc made for a high rev, high compression engine. Building and tuning that will also cost a pretty penny.

eh...wow. I thought since 3.5s already have 255, it might be easier to crack them up. How much will new headers/y-pipe/exchaust/air intake and ECU add? << this should stay under 3K, right?

255 at the crank, not at the wheels. Nobody here cares about crank HP, it's all about WHP!!!!

Like I said earlier, it would be near 300hp or more. You'll have some money left over as well

Headers only, as it includes the y-pipe

yes the 5.5 gen has 255hp, at the wheels it has about 198, this should give you an idea about how much hp you need to come up with. i put an intake on and it brought it up to about 208hp at the wheels, but your still missin 92hp. i like my warrantee so im done with the performance mods, all looks from now on.

You want 300whp, and you want it to be cheap? Spend about $50 on a copy of Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo or NFS: Underground. Then you can have multiple cars with 500whp for less than $100.

to give u an idea how the 5.5 gens are....

the highest dynoed n/a 5.5 gen is 263whp sae corrected....and that includes i/h/e, TS ECU, S-AFCII, and a custom high flow intake manifold...now everybody on this forum has pretty much access to everything except that high flow intake manifold....a 2k2 6spd with i/h/e/ecu/s-afcII will do about 240whp peak...which is damn close to 300 crank if that was your original question....

Who has the custom intake manifold? I remember a thread about it a while back, but I never heard of any progress.

300 crank hp is a thing of the past....we are aiming for the coveted 100bhp/liter mark of 350, which isnt so easy to do.

why the funny face? did I not answer your question in an appropriate manner?

i forgot to mention pricing....intake =$150, exhaust = $400-$600, Headers = $550-$850, S-AFCII = $275, TS L-spc = $345

so about $1700-$2200 worth of mods to get about 240whp (290 crank)

What about the SMT6 instead of the SAFC? With the ability to advance timing I am certain all that could hit 300+ chp.

This is your answer to 300+ hp at the wheels. Along with all the other mods mentioned here will put you well over 300. You just won't have it till you hit the Button!!

Steven,
What intake and exhaust do you recommend?

Thanks,

In terms of power... GAB works pretty good. All catbacks are pretty much equal. Go for stainless steel, mandrel bent, and 2.25" to 2.5" diameter. Custom may be cheaper than brand name (non product rip offs ie What OBX did to Greddy).

I have never been a fan of the GAB. Boring 3" hole (with a 3" desk grommet) in the front of the airbox is much cleaner and creates less turbulance.

You still think I should duct tape the top of my airbox? Haydn seemed to have success with it.

I say Berk short ram intake...but if u want all out, I suppose the cattman/place racing CAI would work well...although it costs more than $150 and require drilling a hole into the fenderwell...

any exhaust system would work well....its just up to personal preference on sound i guess...I personally own a cattman catback and I love it....heres a sound clip if yer wondering what it sounds like...

Modding the stock airbox can give you that much.

err..my 2 cents. I have JWT Pop-Charger on my 4th gen, and its pretty good. When I was doing some research, i found a site where person said taht JWT Pop-Charger had most increase on his 350Z, and had dynos to prove it (i believe he got 8whp)
