Ouch - road projectile!

Sorry, need to vent. On the hwy two days ago, I'm cruising about three seconds behind an SUV (i.e. safe distance) when suddenly I see a chunk of 2 x 4 plus some chunks of gunk that have been kicked up by its tires.

It's heading straight for the middle of my hood, so I reactively swerve and it misses the hood almost clears the car - except that it smashes into the front right HID and trashes it, plus swipes a chunk out of the rt front fender and some other minor stuff.

Got the license of the SUV, and called the police - but not unreasonably, they said since it was road debris, wasn't their fault.

Sigh...the price tag gets big quickly once the HID goes. Still, guess that's what insurance is for.

Peace.

Heh the day after I got my new max a flatbed dropped a 55 gallon drum on my front end smashing my front bumper, hood, and fenders. The day after that a truck kicked up a rock and cracked my windshield. It has been uneventful since then thank god.
