this is too easy.

open your dash again. look behind the radio. there are 2 harnesses that i'm looking at. 1 is unplugged and the other is plugged. the one that's plugged has a brown wire with white stripe. IGNORE THAT. that's your left speaker, negative terminal. the other harness, a MUCH MUCH thinner wire, also has a brown wire with white stripe. cut that off the harness. now ground the wire. trip function returns.

only trip functions return. you need the PAC SWI-X for volume/track/mode/ functions to work.

What if your headunit didnt come with the controls and you purchased a steering wheel with them could they be wired some how to the non-bose unit?

It was easy. Just do as Polo described.

And for the PAC- you have to have a deck that accepts infrared-has a remote. Most do these days anyway, but just another gotcha.

my decks remote is bigger than my fricken tv remote, so this means that any adapter will work for my head unit or does anyone recommend an adaptor that they are useing that will definatly work with the 2002 maxima.

i will repeat what he said in a more technical term.

this PAC SWI-X is nothing more than a universal remote, where you program each button. you wire it in place (instructions) and have your remote aim at the IR sensor on the SWI-X and you program it (as per instructions). i believe that's all you need to know.

I don't have stereo controls on the wheel of my 2000 maxima. If I took some off a 2002-3 at a junkyard, would they work on my car? My head unit is kenwood excelon with remote.
