Starting Max From cold start it jerks untill engine is warm

yay for autozone... but that repair info is for 93-98 vehicles, furthermore, the reason they dont tell you to wait until open loop is because your average joe doesnt have a scanner to look at it... waiting for operating temp is just a way to be sure, regardless of the vehicle or its emissions program
ive measured it on a tech2, WDS, NGS, PST2 and a snap-on handheld.

obdI looks not to use heated o2s, at least nissans don't. So it goes into closed when the engine heats up. Looks like obdII cars use heated sensors that go into closed when the sensor heats up. got it.
But the AZ reference looks to use an OBDII car as a reference. (it refers to front/rear. A thing obdI maximas didn't have) As Nissan went obdII compliant in 1995.

Yeah i posted earlier my car does this well guess what it was the tranny because my automagic just went i only have 1st and 2nd gear and the stall doesnt want to go into third. Looks like im doing the tranny swap earlier then though. Good luck with yours, but im dropping in a 5spd asap.

Similar problem w/ 2000 Max
My 00 max has the same symptoms. Definetely worse last winter, hardly noticeable in the summer. During the winter (ie.. month of Feb in Baton Rouge), I would get the surging for around a minute or two. Coincident with the engine temp gauge starting to show a reading, the surging would stop. This made me think the problem was related to an open loop program or something of the sort. Maybe my injectors are fouled and rely on the O2 sensors to correct? Letting the car warm up in the garage results in smooth driving so I don't understand how the transmission factors in to this problem. On the other hand, I did experience a weird transmission problem a few weeks ago where the car didn't want to shift out of what I thought was 1st gear - after parking for an hour, everything has shifted normal since. I'm actually thinking of selling the car. 95k miles.
My MAF, ignition coils, spark plugs (twice), and O2 sensors have all been changed thus far...

interesting. if you dont sell it before the winter, and you can get it to act up again, try ythe carbon blast, followed by a good injector flush. im a bit curious about this problem myself, it seems to affect the vq30s only, and with higher mileage.

sounds like the coils to me.
You have to look at the tach as you are experiencing the problem. If the tach jumps up and dump in concert with the jerkyness, then it is something under the hood and I would look at the coils. If it does this and the tach remains steady, its the tranny.
Good luck.
Good luck.
