Ignition Light Ring

I have a quick question. After you start your car engine does the ignition light ring go?

It should turn off when you start the car.... but if you've swapped it to an LED, it will stay on a while since LEDs take a while to burn off the power compared to a bulb, which burns it off instantly. My key ring stays lit for about 10 minutes after I turn my alarm on...kind of kewl...

heeeeeeyyyyyy...that pic looks familiar.....like it came off my cardomain site

of course, I'm rolling with the red LED these days - that was the old one where it was a bulb + blue sharpie....

So If i was to just paint or sharpie the ring with the stock bulb inside, it will glow whatever color applied to it? No need to swap out bulbs?

*Ha, you posted the link while I was typing this message. Thanks for the link.

it's not as bright if you do the sharpie + bulb. The LED setup is VERY easy to do, and much nicer looking....plus the ring is clear when off, not colored blue like my original setup...

irish44j, sorry dude I did hijack that from your cardomain site. The reason why I ask is because I just had an Viper 791XV alarm installed into my car. And I notice that it's not lit when the car is on. However, I could swear that it was always lit before I had that alarm installed.

Ya'll sure it's suppose to cut off?

yeah, it only lights up so you can see where the key goes when it's dark....pretty sure. I'll try mine out tomorrow night to make sure.

i changed the bulb in mine and the look is ssssssssooooooooo cool. i also did the clock in blue LED, but stay away from that because it is a pain in the ***. installing the A33 kit, sidestills and spoiler was childsplay compared to changing the light in the clock.

I had to re-wire mine and it shuts off when the doors are closed. This really has no bearing on this post.

i'm positive it turns off after the car starts. I put in a blue bulb probably a little over a year ago and its starting to fade actually. it looks whitish now. when i bought the bulb it came with 2. i just havent had time to put in the other bulb yet. the LED looks cool but looks like a lot of work. but if you have the time and the tools it looks pretty damn cool.
