For some reason, my 2k3 battery with 40K miles is leaking or misting over the engine and battery holder.

The bottom of the battery bracket has now rusted.

Has anyone else had this problem with a battery only 2.5 years old?

What's a good treatment to finish it off.

My color is the light silver.

You should have your alternator tested to make sure it isn't over-charging you battery.

 

Take it to the dealer and have them warranty the battery and corrision it caused. Battery should pe pro-rated still and you car still has rust warranty.

 

Is the OEM battery 5yrs? 6yrs?

How many months?

 

The battery has 41K on it and is 2 years and 5 months on it.

The rust warranty sounds like a good way to go.

I had the same problem on my 2k2, it turned out the battery was cracked for the bracket being too tight and they would not warrenty it.

It was fine in the winter but I gues things like batteries (plastic casing)expand in the hot summer heat and the bracket did not give thus cracking the battery

 

rust warranty will only be applied when an actual hole rusts through the panel. unless you can talk them into it. make sure you check the level in the battery, if its not a maint.-free
