You know, I'd always thought it would be awesome to put the radar detector in the grill, where it couldn't be seen at all. You wouldn't really get anything from behind that way, but I think it'd be a fair tradeoff. You'd really only be able to do it with a radar detector with a detachable display unit like the Valentines though.

Forget about the Passport and get a BEL, they are the best. They used to be carried by Circuit City under that name, but are now sold under the name beltronics (http://www.beltronics.com/). Best money I ever spent

I had BEL 980. Now i have the Passport 8500.
The BEL was good, sensitive but falsed more than the Passport.

Escort Passport 8500 is the right choice. It is worth the money and it pays for itself quickly if you are a spirited driver. Get it for ~$200. Doesn't have to be the x50.

I paid over $300 for my passport after tax from best buy and I never regretted it for a second. I have been saved by it som any times from cops hiding behind bushes and trees and signs, its amazing. Its nice to see the signal to because it almost tells you how hard to slow down. I can think of three different times where it has gone off and I slowed down and had someone go past me and get pulled over. Its rated on god knows how many sites and articles thats its the best on the market.

I got a Passport 5000, its a older model, but it works super. I had 2 Valentine 1s that didn't work good, basically the cop was using radar right infront of me- my friends car's Bel was going nuts and my valentine 1 was just chilln killn, the 2nd one was the same way. I returned the Valentine and kept on using my Passport 5000 till now. In the mean time I tried some Cobra radar detector with a compass n **** like that and it always went off in areas where my passport was silent, and it just didn't do much for me in terms of confidence. One time I was driving home and the detector went nuts ! All the lights where blinking and then dimming back n forth- I threw the fuqer out the window and pulled out my Passport 5000 that is now like 8 years old or so. I love Passport Escort radar detectors, saved my azz plenty of times from jail or tickets.

Metra dash kit is fugly...get the GXE kit, much cleaner look. Nice setup on the detector I suppose.

now: instead of the FoCKING LAME "56k warning" how about you just post photos that fit on the damn screen. It's not that hard x 10 billion

just go into paint, photoshop, imageready, or whatever and open the photo...then click on "resize image" or "image size" in the menu, and change the width to about 600-650 pixels....
