A Present From Me To You

Here is a write up I just did on a starter installation in our 5th gens. Hopefully this will be helpful to you guys taking out some of the guesswork I went through today on my removal. Let me know what you guys think. Moderators...maybe you might approve of this for one of your How To Stickies. Anyways give me some feedback and let me know if this is even worth the time I put in. Thanks.

-Kevin

Nice writeup. They will most likely add it to the How-to sticky.

yea it will put me $200 in the hole tommorow from DaveB. Sucks but this is a key element in starting your car.

Damn, I needed this Monday (removal) and Tuesday (install). It took me about 2 hours to get that 17mm bolt out. I didn't have a breaker bar that would fit in there. I ended up standing in the engine compartment and scraping my knuckles. Install took about 20 minutes.

Remanufactured starter $143+Core from O'Reilly Auto Parts. Autozone was about the same price. Pep Boys and Advanced auto parts quoted over $200+core.

I can't wait to blow my money on this part. I feel like it is such a waste, but hey, what needs to be done needs to be done. Just pushes other things on the checklist a little farther back.
