clicking noise from clutch & throtle...
hey all, my '02 SE makes a "clicking" noise when i press on the clutch, the same "clicking" noise occurs when i step on and release the throtle. it's not a loud noise, just noticable. this annoyance does not seem to effect my car's driveability and performance. this just started happening today. anybody else experience this? thx for your time.

does the noise include an actual feeling in your foot when you press on it? my clutch used to do that...it would almost buckle...well not buckle...but pop in a way...and you could feel it...this is what I did..
Spray some WD-40 on all the springs attached to the clutch...do it once with your foot off of the clutch...then hold down the clutch all the way with your hand and spray in the gaps in the spring...worked for me!

hey
thx for your input,
-i will try the WD-40 when i have the time.
-its just a noticeable clicking noise, not loud or forceful enough for me to feel the vibration through my foot.
-does not occur w/ the brake, only w/ the clutch and throttle.
-when this happened i did not have the cruise control on.
thx again.

does it just click once each pass, or twice, once at each end, or is it more of a 'washboard' sound?
is the noise the same between the clutch and throttle?
can you tell if its coming from the pedal area, or outside of the vehicle?
thx.

EDIT: i forgot to mention that i'm certain it's coming from the pedal itself...

twice when it passes the certain spot, or once each pass?
either way, you should be able to depress the pedal and take a look at the pushrod and pivot as you release the pedal. place your free hand on various parts in the pedal and see if you can 'feel' where its coming from.

hello
well the "clicking" noise seems to have lessend a bit; no WD-40 as of yet, ill get to that when i have the time. its only coming from the clutch now. if i recall correctly, the "clicking" noise occurs only when i press down the clutch. thx again for your help.

also guys, keep in mind that WD-40 is a penetrant, not a lubricant. it may temporarily resolve a squeak or other noise, but in many cases it just wears off, so be careful what you spray it on

depends on what youre spraying it on, but lithium grease might be good, wurth makes some neat **** called HHS 2000, which is basically a hinge lubricant, but it creeps well. it sprays on as a liquid but then sets up as a grease, so it finds its way into hard to reach places, and then thickens. if you find some thick grease already on what needs to be lubed, just match that grease, or find something close to it. bearing grease might even work.
