If You're Thinking of Going Aftermarket Navi w/ SIRIUS *PICS*

If you want navi/dvd/mp3/sat then I suggest you go the following route.

Eclipse! This unit is amazing.

This is the best spot to install the sat antenna without placing it on the outside:

The screen itself is a double-din. The GXE trim leaves about 1/2" at the top so some ABS will need to be cut to fill the gap. Atfirst, I had the GXE kit...even with the abs filler installed, I didn't like the look too much.

Instead I purchased a Sosche kit and modified it. Here are pics of the navi in use:

This unit has 2 slots. One for CD/Mp3 and the other for Navi/DVD movies.

So far I've had it installed for a little over a month. I give this unit 5 out of 5.
A geat upgrade to those who want navi in their 5th gens.

Wow, looks very hot! Compliments to your car.
Very nice pics and great for ideas.
How much was the unit? Did you install it yourself?

The price of the unit can be obtained from Don. I purchased this from him since he is authorized to sell eclipse and he offers the wntty.

I did this install in about 2-3 hrs. It wasnt hard at all, just time consuming since you need to take apart the dash to get to the speed sensor wire.

I'm assuming that this is more difficult to install if you have Bose like everything else? Hopefully not bc I want to get this.

I had the Avic N1 and it was awesome!! The only problem i see with the new N2 is that you can't watch movies on the go....if yuor'e into that kinda thing...

Maybe look on ebay for the n1? I just picked up the Kenwood DDX-7015 double-din screen and the KNA-DV3100 navi add on with the TV Tuner ..only thing used was the screen..everything else was brand new. I can't wait to put it in!

But with the Kenwood DDX's you don't have navigation and if you want to add it is like another 500$+ for it. I am going to go with the Pioneer AVIC-D1 and then install my PS2 under my seat or something so I am able to watch DVD's or something. I think that is the cheapest and best route. Pioneer AVIC-D1 on ebay is like $1100 at the most, Kenwood DDX-7017 is like 900 on ebay + another 500 or more for navigation thats 1400 and then the eclpise is like 1600 I think. PLus the AVIC-D1 has the VSS, able to have your own wallpapers etc.

eclipse is the best all in one unit, no need for anything aditional to make it work like its meant to work.

also warranty which can not be beat. but the other units do serve their purpose as well

yeah I agree...all in one is better. The reason I got the kenwood was because my friend was selling the screen, navi, tv tuner, sirius satellite radio tuner + antenna, kicker soundstation enclosure w/built-in sub/amp plus the wiring for it all for 1500 bucks....i coulnd't pass it up...I dont' even have my maxima yet!!! (my car was totalled a month ago)

That's funny.

Everything in my car is Eclipse: fronts, rears, two amps, and subs, but the headunit. I found the Avic to be a far better head unit. + I hate double dins.

I have the D1 in my 00 Quest. Great pkg for the money but I dont want to have to swap out the C719 and SR901 that I currently have hooked into my current Kenwood HU (relatively recent install). So it's either swap out the Kenwood HU/C719/SR901 for a D1/SNR-PNR1/XDV-P90 OR just change the HU to a DDX and add the DV4100. Either way, it'll cost me.

i have this same eclipse head unit, what a beauty. Works amazing. Only thing i hate is the MP3 buffer. There is none so it can take as long as 3 seconds to go to a song 3 pages down when u put an MP3 cd in. Other then that, no complaints.

Pioneer might have better cosmetics and wallpapers (still debateable) but the eclipse makes a much better product. Higher prevolts, much better warranty. Also i hear the pioneer gps cant be used while moving unlike the eclipse that can (if wired to do so).

I had mine for about 3 months and been happy with it. Also purchased from Don. Gotta love a 3 year warranty with 1 year theft . What other dvd player offers u that?

pioneer has better navigation options and cd text when your using your changer, and now you ppl have found ways to lock out that by pass.
but the sound quality you get with eclipse doesnt even compare. i would take the eclipse any day
