Mine went off cause i unplugged a connection for it and the only way I found to reset it was to take it to the dealer and have them do it.

Here you go I had it saved on my pc
2000-2003 Airbag Light Reset Procedure

If your airbag light is on (or flashing)... try this. By the way, use a stopwatch to count.... the timing must be accurate in order for it to work.

1) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)
2) After the AIR BAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds, turn IGNITION off within 1 second.
3) Wait 4 seconds
4) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)
5) After the AIR BAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds, turn IGNITION off within 1 second.
6) Wait 4 seconds
7) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)
8) After the AIR BAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds, turn IGNITION off within 1 second.
9) Wait 4 seconds
10) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)
11) Wait 3 seconds
12) Turn IGNITION off
13) Wait 2 seconds
14) START Car (the light may be blinking slower than before)
15) Wait 3 seconds
16) Turn IGNITION off
17) Wait 3 seconds
18) START Car

The light should be gone unless the problem remains. Try it again if it fails. If it still remains on, you'll need to visit a dealer to have the problem looked at.

That doesn't work. Ignition way works but light comes back on a lot of the times.

I've tried this method years ago. It worked, but the air bag light always came back. I haven't tried the ignition method though....

Or you can open your door turn ignition to on and jump on one foot seven times, close door. Or you can try the obd ii scanner.

This works. Did it 9 months ago, light has not returned.

Took a few tries to get the timing down.

As I recall from my searching, pressing the door button only works on Max's prior to Gen 5.

and... you have to fix the problem before you reset the light.

anyway... from the svc manual:

CAUTION:
Do not use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed to. Spiral cable and wiring harnesses are covered with yellow insulation either just before the harness connectors or for the complete harness, for easy identification.

Do not attempt to repair, splice or modify the SRS wiring harness. If the harness is damaged, replace it with a new one.

Keep ground portion clean.

DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION
The SRS self-diagnosis results can be read by using "AIR BAG" warning lamp, "SEAT BELT" warning lamp and/or CONSULT-II. The reading of these results is accomplished using one of two modes - "User mode" and "Diagnosis mode".

The User mode is exclusively prepared for the customer (driver). This mode warns the driver of a system malfunction through the operation of the "AIR BAG" warning lamp and/or "SEAT BELT" warning lamp.

The Diagnosis mode allows the technician to locate and inspect the malfunctioning part.

HOW TO CHANGE SELF DIAGNOSIS MODE - Without CONSULT

From User Mode to Diagnosis Mode
Diagnosis mode activates only when a malfunction is detected, by pressing the driver's door switch at least 5 times within 7 seconds after turning the ignition ON . SRS will not enter Diagnosis mode, if no malfunction is detected.

From Diagnosis Mode to User Mode
To return to User mode to User mode is required while malfunction is being detected, switch the ignition OFF ., then back ON and press the driver's door switch at least 5 times within 7 seconds.

After a malfunction is repaired, switch the ignition OFF for at least one second , then back ON . Diagnosis mode is returned to User mode.

Checking Air Bag Operation by Using "AIR BAG" Warning Lamp - User Mode

After turning ignition switch from OFF to ON , "AIR BAG" warning lamp operates.

Compare "AIR BAG" warning lamp operation to the chart be low.
NOTE: If "AIR BAG" warning lamp operates differently from the operations shown above, refer to "AIR BAG" warning lamp operation - Diagnosis mode -, DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 6 See: Diagnostic Procedures\Diagnostic Procedure 6(step 4) Then repair as necessary.

Reset Airbag Light

WANT TO RESET YOUR AIRBAG LIGHT???

I JUST GOT DONE DOING THIS SUCCESSFULLY ON MY 99, TODAY USING THE OLD (LOST?) INSTRUCTIONS. I HAVE THEM PRINTED BUT NOT WITH ME RIGHT NOW AND I WILL TRY TO REPOST THEM VERBATIM VERY SOON.

it breaks down like this.

leave driverside door open.

turn your key to accessory and wait for airbag light to stop flashing.

once airbag light stops, locate the door open sensor switch. near bottom of door.

set a timer or have someone count to ten. (i had my Girl count and it worked fine) and press the switch repeatedly until timer gets to ten. *i tried this 4 times, and it didnt work the first three, but i think i was pushing the button TOO fast, so if it doesnt work, dont get frustrated just slow it down a little bit.

then turn the key to the midway point between accessory and off, (you should NOT be able to remove key, and radio/clock should NOT be getting power.) and close the door.

with door closed, start your maxima, cross your fingers, and enjoy the show.
if airbag light comes back on try again, if it turns off then returns later, you may have a real problem with your airbag system.
