you should go with ngk plugs no matter which way you go. i personally use coppers since i replace them once a year, they are cheap and burn hotter than the stock platnium plugs. you do need a step or 2 colder plugs unless you are running boost or spraying. i am not sure if they have coppers for the 02/03 yet but the plats should always be available from ebay, dealer, etc.

i was not suggesting they would have to be replaced once a year. i just choose to replace mine every spring. coppers would probably be good up to 20-25k miles but i choose to replace mine around 15k which is about a year of driving for me.

yea but he has a vq35, its a bit absurd to remove the intake manifold on an overly regular basis to change the plugs. then again, maybe not.

That's an utter waste of time and money. I just turned 60K on my 95 SE and still have the OEM platinum plugs in and the car runs like a champ. They were cleaned about 2,500 miles ago and looked good to go.

1.59 a piece and 30-40 minutes of my time is worth it to me. just keep on cleaning your plugs.

I agree... This makes me want to go change my plugs. It's not a waste of money, and your car will love you for it.

02 up plugs are good for about 100K miles PERIOD. If there is one person on here that can tell me that the entire industry standard on platnum plugs (including manufacturers suggested intervals) is wrong PROVE it. Dyno your car at 60K miles on OEM plugs, change them, and then dyno again. If you want to change them and waste your money fine, but that is all you will do. Also you do not clean nor regap these plugs it is a waste of time. Nissan put high quality plugs in our cars so that people would not have to waste their money changing them every 40K miles, but most people will anyways because everybody is smarter than engineers. I guess if it wasn't for that this forum would not exist right? If you care to disagree and say that your car "felt alive again" after chaning plugs halfway through their life show a dyno to prove it. Otherwise just let it be.

at around 90K miles I will be replacing my plugs with stock NGKs and then I will probably sell the car before I ever think about it again. The car is designed this way so why not take advantage of it?

ive seen plug replacement clear up a slightly rough idle, once on a lightning at 35K and on an expedition at like 60ish

how about you be quiet. if i recall...you're a starter of a LOT of useless threads and the author of a lot of misinformation. i plan on changing my plugs at 60k....if you'd like i'll show you pics of how shot they'll be. not just max's...but most enthusiasts with cars that come with plats usually change them out by 60k...research it and learn

yeah but hes just saying that if you dyno it, you wont see a resonable gain... and hes right for the most part. bad/fauled plat plugs dont cause a power loss, usually, just more of a rough idle and throttle response issues, usually only noticed by the most meticulous drivers.

and just for the record, per nissan youre not supposed to clean the plugs with a brush, for obvious reasons..

the dy no still isn't the be all end all of measuring devices...there's certain things your butt and feet can pick up that the dyno can't
