Locked my keys inside... HELP

Hi
Is there an easy way to open up 2000 max?
I'm at work and I left my keys on the seat.
Any way to get in? trunk?
if there's no way i can do it myself.. who do i call, police? locksmith?

Sometimes security or police have something called a "slim jim" that unlocks cars (usually their cars )

U could try a coat hanger, I wouldn't though!

BTW, you totally just yourself. Which is quite rare.

i looked on another max if a coat hanger would work.... it would, but it would destroy my weather seals.

I heard that if you find someone with AAA you can say that they were riding with you home from work (Carpool)... AAA follows the person not just the car. That happened to someone @ my job and AAA came and opened it right up. Maybe that will work. Good Luck!!

find someone with AAA and call them. Tell them that you do carpool. When he gets the keys out or unlocks your car, tip him $5-$10.00....

So you get in yet? I do maintenance in an office building and people are always locking themselves out of their cars. I always use "drop ceiling wire". It's very stiff, but a coat hanger will work also. You can stick it through the weather stripping and it won't make anything bigger then a pin hole. Then just use it to hit the unlock button on the door.

Well that's what i did (almost) instead od making hole in weather stripping a friend pulled the door from top to make a gap big enough to stick a hanger in there and unlock the door. That solved my problem... thanks guys for help.

get a lockmith or get a ride home, slim jims and coat hangers mess up the way the car looks.

Insurance might cover it, I know some companies do.

Call the Cops, they usually try it and it MIGHT work.

I always carry the valet key on my house keyring.

Incidentally, this is why I love my 05 Murano: Intelligent Key makes it virtually impossible to lock the keys in the car (exception being if the FOB battery is dead).

i heard if you can get someone to get your other FOB and call you on your cell, you can take your cell phone up to the car and have them unlock it for you. not sure if that is true or not. try it and let us know.

last time a buddy of mine locked his keys inside the car, AAA guy came, used a small block to wedge the door enough to insert a long metal bar w/ a hook at the end.

No, No, and No. I been lurking here for a few months and I even I know that won't work.

With all the technology and developments with automobiles these days, you'd think they would have come up with a easy way to prevent people from locking their keys in (like F23A4 said about his Murano).

I once locked my keys in when I just got down to South Beach on a Saturday night, girls everywhere. I had to pay some shady locksmith $200 to use that door opener thing. Anyone's that's been to South Beach knows that having to drop an unexpected $200 is not wsup. But seing some dude get his a$$ beat in the middle of the street (twice!) almost made up for it

Oh and that AAA thing does work because I just got a letter from them yesterday asking if I wanted to sign up with them. Basically their services cover you, not the car, so they got your back if you're driving your own car, driving someone else's car, or if you're a passenger in someone else's car. For $60 I think I might jump on that because I can't see how Geico (who I have coverage with now) can offer anything better than that.

i'll bet his friend pulled the door from top to make a gap big enough to stick a hanger in there and he pressed the unlock button with the hanger.

Stupid question, but isn't it impossible to lock the door with the drivers door open? Everytime I try it unlocks ALL doors.

that's what i thought....my drivers door doesn't lock unless i use the inside button on the passenger side, or i use the key or keyfob to lock the car when all the doors are closed....how exactly do you lock your keys in? hopefully i wont have that luck any time soon...

i think the doors wont lock if the key is in the ignition. if the keys are left on the seat the doors should lock. who knows.

with my car you can not lock all the doors from the inside unless you use the passenger side button and the drivers door is closed...it wont let you...that's why i always use the keyfob, and if i didnt have a keyfob i would use a key..

get a spare key

yea ive done that so many times before....ive called the cops to slim jim it but ive heard that some police depts. arent goin to do this anymore due to people trying to make a claim after an officer unlocks their vehicle......then they go and say they want the police to pay for repairs to the lock if they do in fact break it...even though the officer clearly states that they arent responsible for any damages......i now keep a spare key.....

The Cell phone tip w/fob does not work...it would be too easy to steal the cars thn.

I would keep magnetic key safely under carriage w/valet key. just a thought.

You got a nice V tecao. Unfortunately, I'm pushing a beat up old corolla - it ain't much to look at. I be on here cuz I plan on getting a used V in a few months, and I'm strongly leaning towards a Max, since I been a fan since the 3rd gens. But lemme know what's good
