sup guys..i got a 00 black max. and i wanna get tints...this place in dwntwn chicago does it for $120 high quality..i was wondering wat % i should get...i was thinking about 5% on rear windows and the back.. wat about the front two?

 

Do the legal limit for front in PA its 35% its a safe bet going with 35

 

I got 20% rear & 35% up the sides. It looks good, but it doesn't attract the cops as much. 5% on the rears makes it VERY hard to see out the back at night.
Where in downtown are you getting it done?

 

Since I'm young and have a girlfriend, I'm going the 5% route. It really depends on what you want. For a good look 20-35% is good. For privacy and to cut down on the heat in the Summer 5% is the way to go.

 

I have 20% on my sides and rear. To me 5% on the back would be too dark, especially if you're backing up at night.

 

What does being young and having a girlfriend have to do with how dark you get your tint?? Being young and having 5% tint is a good way to get pulled over a lot, that's about it.

 

Especially in the Chicago burbs.

35% is really nice, not too dark or light. If you dont want people to be able to see inside the car, get 20% or 15%, whatever the shop may have.
if the cops ar dix in your area, just play it safe and get 35%, you won't be dissapointed with either choice.

I have tint on my maxima and I want to darker. In New York, the quote I got was $125 to remove the tint and clean the windows, $175 for the new tints.

also i highly recommend 20 because its not dark enough where the cops will give you a problem, but not light enough where you dont like it. I've had customers come in and say they should've went darker than what they have gotten.

 

the tint on our TL was 180. I apid 225 for tiniting the maxima with some kind of nichrome tint or something like that.

I got 20 in the back, 35 up front. People say my tint is pretty dark. I could not imagine what 5 is like

 

nichrome is the good stuff, it has metal shavings in teh file, and does not fade over time.
5% is limo tint. you should not be able to see anything in/out the windows with this film... at night. it would be suuuuper dark during sunny days.

 

jus got mine done 15% all around prolly at the same place ure thinkin bout, looks real good wouldnt go darker or lighter

my friend has limo all around in his max, and he has gotten 4 tickets just this year from the wonderfull Chicago police department

 

I just had my wife's Maxima and my Tacoma done with 15% Vista Ceramic tint (It's made by LLUMAR, according to the paperwork). We had the whole Maxima done in 15% including the sunroof (but not the front, obviously). Ended up being a little more than twice the charge for normal tint (about $250 for the car, plus $50 for doing the sunroof). It really looks more like 20-25%, but it is freaking AMAZING just how much heat this stuff blocks. That was our main goal since her car has leather and she didn't like the way it burnt her legs on hot days. We drove around on Saturday looking at houses, leaving it several times out in the 96 degree heat, and it was never even uncomfortable when we got back inside. We even left the sunroof shade open (kind of testing the heat resistant properties, and we were pretty pleased). I am totally sold on this type of tint - really blocks the heat.

This stuff was about $100 more than the metal tint but the salesman said that the metal can sometimes interfere with electronics (like our antenna in the back window). The ceramic certainly doesn't, but who knows how much the metal tint would have affected the radio? I may have wasted the extra $100, but I'm satisfied with the tint, and he went illegal without charging extra, so I'm happy. Can't go >35% on driver/passenger windows in Ky, 20% on rears, and I hate when tint doesn't match all the way around

 

I go to Logan Auto Accessories over on fullerton and milwaukee. I was just wondering if you went to the same place. They charge me $120 for all 5 windows. Great deal.

Same here. 20% premium black all around. Looks sharp on icelandic pearl...

 

20 on the rear and 35 on side windows, much darker draws unwanted attention IMHO. During the day you can see in ok but at night it looks better at night.

 

also consider what color interior you have. if you've got black interior, your tints will prolly end up looking darker than some cars with the same tint. what color interior do you have?

 

True... I have light beige interior and if you also slide open the moonroof cover the tint does not look as dark...

 

where are all u guys in chicago.. i never see any 5th gen modded maxes around.. im looking to get 20% all around on my 01 merlot with grey cloth int.
im going to pay about 80$ for all my tints. side job but the work is still warrantyd

where are you getting it done for that price? i live on the northside (foster/western) and it went to get a quote and the guy charged me $250 that's just way too much for tints.

I have limo all the way around. Privacy is important. Living in florida they are a little flexible, but I don't drive like an a***ole. Compromise with yourself, flex it out between front and rear, or get 20 all the way around.

i just changed out my black tint to the more metallic quantum tint same 20% all around and 50% on windshield...i'll post pics up when i get off work or something. i like the quantum more than the black tint i had

 

I haven't been stopped yet, but I generally obey the speed limit within 10mph or so, don't have flashy rims or a weed whacker on my muffler. The legal limit is 35% iirc but I have not yet been stopped. I tend to drive in Suffolk and Nassau county only. Never in NYC, where I think cops would be a little more strict.

I have a 02 maxima Black, just bought it about a month ago.. pretty happy with it expect for the bose radio ( sways from side to side for some reason) .. well anyway I was goin to tint my car but just had to get some advise what % should i get 20% 25 % or 35% street legal .. I dont like idea of having two diffent percantage in the front and back.. .I would reather have the same around. Any advise of what I should get.. and by the way whats with the type of tinting i hear ? the nichrome tint , Vista Ceramic tint, people please shade some light in here.
